  1. Moving from east to west. Picked up a negligible amount of rain earlier. Things are already starting to green up a bit.
  2. I noticed them tonight too. I was also eaten alive by mosquitoes this evening.
  3. Calm down. If anything this warm spell is a throwback event in its own right.
  4. As I mentioned yesterday. Pretty much every year with a notably cold February/early March period also had a corresponding torch in late March-mid April.
  5. Silverton and Stayton had their 2nd and 3rd coldest Februaries on record. Silverton (1962-present) Mean: 36.71 (2) Max: 42.64 (1) Min: 30.79 (2) Stayton (1951-present) Mean: 36.62 (3) Max: 42.82 (1) Min: 30.43 (4) Both sites had slightly cooler averages highs than February 1989, which is the coldest February on record at both locations. Stayton's period of record also includes February 1956 which was cooler than this year.
  6. Significant wildfire burning in the Santiam Canyon about 10 miles south of me. https://www.statesmanjournal.com/story/news/local/stayton/2019/03/19/multiple-wildfires-converge-mill-city-fire-north-santiam-river/3220391002/
  7. Would be nice. 00z was nice. Gets close to something sort of crazy in the long range.
  8. I have to say...If we are going to torch 10 months out of the year at least our cold months hit at the right time...
  9. So Satan comes to you with a deal. February snowfall record at SEA-TAC in exchange for letting him blowtorch it for a March all-time high. Do you take it?!
  10. Zounds! That is astonishing! I believe the all-time record at SLE is 80 from 1947. Looks like the all-time record up here is 80 from 1966...Interestingly a lot of our record highs in late March and April are from years where there were notable cold/snow events in February and early March (1985, 1951, 1956, etc...).
  11. Hey Jesse, I expanded on my original thoughts over in the Banter thread...
  12. Looks like Silver Falls came in with their coldest February on record. Beating out 1989 by a whisker. 2019: 32.07 1989: 32.12 Average max was 35.61 Average min was 28.54 That is the coldest February average max by 3.4 degrees. The average minimum was only the 9th coldest on record, but coldest since 1989. Preliminary snowfall data is 26.5" which would be 2nd all-time for February. Kind of unfortunate they did not record more as the true number was probably more in the 40-45" range.
  13. A few more COOP stations have their February #'s up. Heppner, OR (Period of record 1893-present) Mean 28.0 (4th coldest), 31.0" of snow (Most all-time for February.) Marion Forks Fish Hatchery, OR (Period of record 1948-present) Mean 30.2 (3rd coldest), 63.9" of snow (2nd most all-time for February behind 1990 which had 90", there are 4 days missing from Feb 2019 snowfall, but those days would have probably had no more than 6-8" total given what other foothill/cascade locations measured on those days.).
  14. 32 currently at Redmond, OR with fog. Quite the inversion they have going on over there.
  15. True. Another 3-5 days of weak underachieving troughing will set us up for a 3 week run of record highs!
  16. I think Jesse slammed his head right on a nail yesterday when he pointed out that at least we are getting this crap out of the way early so we can move back into a cooler wetter pattern.
  17. All coming together Tim. This is setting up splendidly for April showers!
  18. Despite a lack of recent precipitation Oregon's snow pack #'s seem to be holding their own.
