  1. The sun is now out here with a current temperature of 41
  2. I know this really belongs in the complaint thread but that is now way too political for my taste. Anyway I really miss the baseball season. I have been a Tiger fan for a long time. My 1st game that I went too was in1957. And even thought the Tigers were not good then either they won that game in the bottom of the 10th inning when Charlie (Paw Paw) Maxwell hit a two run home run. I played little league baseball and of course I have been working the last 14 years out at the West Michigan Whitecaps. Of course I will not miss the cold games that we have here in April and that would have been the case later next week. At this time there are plans in the works that there may NOT be minor league baseball this season and even Major league baseball for 2020 is still uncertain.
  3. I know you must be young, but even in the late 1960's Detroit had people walking and driving all over town. While the city has many abandoned areas (along with Flint and Saginaw) the metro area is still has a lot of people and thus traffic.
  4. Sunny and 57 here at this time. The grass is greening up nicely some of the daffodils are near bloom. There is a forsythia now in bloom. Of course there is always a chance of some cold weather later in April seems to happen in many years.
  5. Since the airport moved to it current location for Marquette the average snow depth for April 1st is 13" and has ranged from 0" several times that last time was in 2012 all the way up to 41" in 1997. In 2013 there was 36" on the ground and in 2014 there was 32". In 1997 there was over 10" on the ground until April 17th and there was over 1" until April 23rd and a trace still reported on the 30th. For 2013 there was at least 10" on the ground for the whole month and the snow did not all melt until May 4th In 2014 the snow did not all melt until May 2nd.
  6. At this time the seasonal snow fall totals in west Michigan are Grand Rapids 51.3" Muskegon 51.9" to the east at Lansing 44.7" At Detroit the total is 38.3" Flint 52.5" and Saginaw just 34.5" in northern lower Michigan the totals are https://www.weather.gov/apx/snow and at Marquette 183.9"
  7. With March now behind us here are some stats from west Michigan for March. At Grand Rapids the mean was 38.6 and that is a departure of +3.0 the high for the month was 63 and the low was 17. There was 3.27” of rain and melted snow fall. The snow fall for the month was just 2.8” and the total now for the season is just 51.3” If this holds thru April this will be the 3rd least snow fall at Grand Rapids since the current airport opened in 1963. And the 10th lowest snow fall amount since 1936 when the old airport opened on 36st street. At Muskegon the March mean was 38.3 the high for the month was 57 and the low was 16 and there was just 1.6” of snow fall. Their seasonal snow fall total now stands at just 51.9” and that is now some 40” below average. To the east at Lansing the mean there was 39.0 the high for the month was 62 and the low was 18. And they had 2.0” of snow fall and for the season they are now at 44.7” Their average for this time is 49.2”
  8. The month of March here at Grand Rapids will end up being warmer and wetter than average with less than average snow fall. The high for the month will be 63 (that is in the middle of the pack) and the low for the month will be 17 that will be tied with several other years for the 7th warmest minimum for the month of March. Will have more on this tomorrow. At this time it is 39 here with cloudy skies.
  9. I agree. And just think we live is a very conservative city. The best way to describe some peoples thinking is delusional. Delusions are defined as beliefs that conflict with reality. Despite contrary evidence, individuals with delusions can't let go of their convictions. 1 Delusions are often reinforced by the misinterpretation of events. Most delusions involve some level of paranoia.
  10. Getting some wind blown rain here at this time with a temperature of 43. Here is today's updated Michigan virus totals. State wide confirmed cases 5468 that is a increase of 836. Deaths 132 a increase of 21. Some city/county totals Detroit city 1542. Detroit metro 4494. Genesee (Flint) county 127 Washtenaw (Ann Arbor) County. 231. Kent county 72 and Ottawa county 25.
  11. Not sure why you are not getting outside. I walk everyday out side. And here more and more people are waking and that is good. I did see that while the park (I live near a large park with a large wooded area) but the park now has closed the playground. So as long as you can get outside and get some fresh air. Of course it is much nice with sunny days and mild temperatures. BTW how are things in your area?
  12. You brought a very good point that perishable items are going to be difficult to get the longer this last There is a chance that we may have to go without for a while As to what I did so far this month While Michigan was ahead of many other states the emergency started out with small groups on the 13th. but everything was still open (Ohio started earlier I think on the 11th or 12th) Then bars and restaurants were closed except for take out and delivery. That happened on the 16th then the stay at home started on the 24th. I did go to the store on the 18th and again on the 25th but I not sure about the next 4 to 6 weeks what I will do.
  13. Do you have a Meijer store in Marshall? I did sign up for the home delivery but have not yet used it yet. Also I have not seen any of my neighbors have any delivery's yet. My son used it and said it worked fine for him. If you do use Meijer they will ask if you want to substitute and remember some items are is very short supply so good luck
  14. Yes they are also being tested for the flu (not sure if it is 1st or not) as well not sure what % are positive for the flu vs the virus but I know there are people that have come back negative for both and have been sick for over a week or so. Anyway here in Grand Rapids so far more test have came back negative then positive. At least that has been the case so far. Side note my son works in insurance billing and his wife works in radiology.
  15. Both my son and his wife work for Spectrum Health here in Grand Rapids and one thing that they have mentioned is that there are a lot of people that have the symptoms. Fever, cough and shortness of breath and and that is the test criteria. But there seems to be a lot of the test that come back negative and there is some who wonder if there is are lot of false negative test coming back
  16. The big word here is SOME I am sure there are SOME who think it will kill many more. Just think of the weather models some will point to 25" of snow while other will point towards 5 now the question is what ones are right an what ones are wrong. At this time we live is a state that very well might become the next "hot spot" it will not be contained just to Detroit and SE Michigan and we are also between Detroit and Chicago with I 94 running between the two.
  17. Now from this stand point I can see were you are coming from. But the way other countries were doing even before the shut down here happened I have to wonder if there is a lot that the governments around the word are NOT telling us about this virus? Just thing about it China shut down way, way before we did and do you wonder why they did that? I sure do.
  18. There is also zero proof that it is NOT year around. And even it is is not year around there is a good chance that it will hit even harder in the fall and into next winter. Remember a virus is a living orgasm and thus it will do what it needs to do for it survival.
  19. 0.78" of rain here so far from this system. 43 here now with light rain falling.
  20. On that site click on the USA and it will break it down state by state and on the right hand side click on source for more information some states have several sources Here is a link to that site https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/#news
  21. It is now cloudy and 52 here. While this is not weather related it is some news from here in Michigan Michigan has reported 801 new cases today for a total of 3657 confirmed there have been a reported 32 new deaths for a total of 92. At this time most of the cases are in SE Michigan with the city of Detroit have a reported 1075 and Wayne county have a total of 1810. The 4 county area that is metro Detroit now has a total of 3188. Outside of the metro Detroit area Genesee (Flint) has 91 Kent(Grand Rapids) 45 with Ottawa at 21 for a total in the Grand Rapids metro area of 66. Remember these are confirmed cases and not the number that may be sick. Stay safe
  22. Really????? Trump and his finger pointing is NOT going to bring this country together. The republicans took care of their self interest as well. That's the way it has always been that is called being a democracy with a capitalist economic system.
  23. I have read some of the comments and while this post is not directly related to the above post I will toss this up. A reporter from WOOD TV has been sick for over 9 days now. Has all of coronavirus symptoms and has been tested twice now and both time the tests have came back negative. I have to wonder just how many of the test are coming back false negative??? Here in Michigan the latest information is that there have been 11886 test taken with 9162 negative and 2616 positive. I have to wonder how many of the so called negative test are false negative?? Here is a link to today post from WOOD TV. If you want read it over as see what you think remember most if not all of the test taken were supposed to have the symptoms and I am sure most are very sick. Here is the story https://www.woodtv.com/health/coronavirus/a-journal-day-9-covid-19-test-negative-what-next/
