  1. 18Z NAM basically splits into 2 pieces over Nebraska and Iowa and goes Northeast and Southwest through Colorado.
  2. Euro shows the better hit south of I-80. Looks like a general 1-3". Not many other models showing this much around my part of Nebraska. Who knows?
  3. We went last week, just brutally cold. Had a chance to go this weekend but the man cave with a comfy chair, refrig, refreshments, and bathroom seem like the way to go.
  4. NAM and GFS pretty lame around here for this clipper. Will be interesting to see the Euro this afternoon.
  5. Have to say these students are usually the same ones that say the classrooms and building are cold. I point out that those of us in the room that have on pants, long sleeve shirts, jackets, etc. are very comfortable.
  6. The 18z FV3 GFS has a powerhouse storm at the end of Thanksgiving weekend then another comes on its heels. We’ll see.
  7. Our local NWS is saying a warm up for the next 3 days, cold and potential snow Saturday, cold Sunday and warmer again for Thanksgiving week. They also mentioned a stormy pattern ahead for after the Thanksgiving Holiday. For NWS Hastings to be mentioning this over 10 days away surprised me, as they usually don't talk about things more than a week out. Interesting.
  8. Hearing complaints from students on how cold it is. I said you better buy a warmer coat, gloves and a stocking cap. I can't believe the amount of kids that come to school in t-shirts, shorts, and tennis shoes (these are not poor students). They say they only have to run from their car to the building so why wear a coat or pants. I question them on what would happen if they had car problems.
  9. Thanks Tom. You know we have already had quite a bit of snow and cold, that people are complaining about our weather pattern and hoping for spring. I nicely point out that winter doesn't officially start until Dec. 22nd. They usually scowl and grumble at me as I smile.
  10. Snow showers have been occurring over the last hour. Enough to put a small amount of snow on the ground. What a start to the cold and snow season though there is some warmer weather ahead this week. Right now 18 degrees, wind chill of 3 with a snow shower. Crazy for November.
  11. I believe Nebraska beat Oklahoma that day 24-7. Tommy Frazier was a sophomore. I just asked my wife a little bit ago what she remembered and she said our boots were in 6 inches of snow all game but the sun was shining.
  12. We went down to the restroom and stood by a heater during halftime. We left after the Ozigbo touchdown made it 54-28. Martinez is the man. I think we may be picked to win the west next year. Frost is building it from the ground up and the improvement is visible.
  13. I mentioned that to my son today. My wife and I had just started dating and that is the first game we went to together.
  14. Sitting with my son at the Husker game. Don’t remember being this cold before
  15. Already down to 7 degrees and not even 7:30 pm yet. Amazing what a deep blanket of snow will do.
  16. One thing I was just thinking about, the largest 4 classes in Nebraska High School Football have their semi-finals tonight. I can't imagine how cold that will be as the sun sets about 5:30. I believe the games start at 7:00. Brrrrrrrr.
  17. You are correct. I will have to check the records to find a day in Central Nebraska where at 1 pm it is still 18 degrees with wind chills close to 0. December to March could be brutal
  18. Wow, still 18 degrees and blowing snow at 11:30 AM.
  19. 18 degrees with a wind chill of 3 at 7:30 this morning. I drove in some blowing and drifting snow on my way to school this morning. It feels and looks like January. The high may only make it into the low to mid 20’s. Insane. Had several people measure over 9 inches yesterday here, NWS had us at 8”. Either way, what a way to start.
  20. You don’t typically see this in November. Should be a frigid day. From NWS Hastings: ..Cold Wind Chills along with Gusty Winds and Blowing Snow Today ... An Arctic cold front will cross the area today ushering in a reinforcing shot of very cold air for early November. Temperatures will remain in the teens and 20s ...and northwest winds will increase to 20 to 30 MPH ...with gusts of 35 to 40 MPH at times. This will result in unusually cold wind chills for November ...with readings in the single digits over south central Nebraska ...and in the teens over north central Kansas. In addition ...the strong winds will result in blowing snow where snow fell yesterday. This could result in localized slick spots on area roads ...including Interstate 80. Anyone venturing outside should dress for winter weather ...and those driving should be alert for slick spots and use caution.
  21. I will post some pictures later in the day. Winter wonderland here.
  22. Thanks. Also, our snow plow drivers in our town did a tremendous job clearing this heavy, wet snow. We had a few kids that live in the country not come in today due to bad road conditions in rural areas but attendance from the rest of the students looks really good. Been quite a while since we have had a good amount of snow in November. Hopefully it is a sign of the winter to come, but obviously we are way above normal and way early for our first large snow.
  23. I measured 7-8". This graphic is spot on me as the yellow bullseye is essentially over my house. Had a late start, 10 AM at school. The only reason we didn't have the entire day off was there was no wind. Just a straight down beautiful snow.
