  1. Just returned from church. 45 degrees with heavy drizzle falling and north winds to 25 mph. Feels like a November day waiting for a snowstorm.
  2. 43 degrees with heavy drizzle. Has that winter feeling on September 29. Indoor house temp at 60. Going to wait on the furnace. Dressing in layers for now. What a change
  3. I was just going to post that Tom, you read my mind. I think we officially will have a low of 39 degrees in my town. Just to my northwest they have been in a frost advisory. The lowest temp I could find at 7 AM was 33 degrees at North Platte but might be some areas a degree or two cooler. Had to grab a jacket this morning. It was actually windy and chilly at my son's 7th grade football game last evening. Been a long time coming and I'm enjoying it immensely.
  4. Went to school this morning at 7 AM to a temp. of 51 degrees. Heavenly air. Lows tonight drop to 43. Opening the windows will amazing. Been a long time since we could do that. Even when we had some cooler air in August and September the dews really never dropped below the low 60's.
  5. It has been such a long summer that this upcoming pattern change will really be a shock to the system. Looking forward to wearing long sleeved shirts, sweatshirts, jackets. Noticed a lot of leaves changing tonight as we I came home. That may really accelerate in the next 2 weeks.
  6. Went to my son’s 7th grade football game this afternoon. Game time temp of 92 with a dew of 68. Oppressive July I mean September heat. Enough already. Maybe down to one more day of this.
  7. 2 more days of 90 degree heat then hopefully that is the end of summer around here. 60’s for highs on Friday. Nice.
  8. Now forecasts keep upper 80’s to 90 into Thursday. What a long summer this has been. Still enough humidity to make it uncomfortable but not brutal. Think cold fronts.
  9. We just got done with our school’s homecoming parade. It felt like the middle of summer. Temp of 87 dew of 70 and heat index of 92. Yuck.
  10. It is here now. When I saw low clouds streaming in from the south this morning I knew the humidity was returning with a vengeance. Only saving grace is a strong southerly wind.
  11. 85 degrees with heat index of 89 with a 67 dew at 6:45 pm on September 13th. I was done with this weather weeks ago. Tomorrow pushing 90+. Now the cool down next week has been tempered with still some 80 degree weather. Hoping end of the month into October gives us the long awaited cool shot.
  12. Enjoying the dry and windy weather. Everything just needed to dry out for awhile. Farmers are loving this warm weather with some lower dews. Looks like big changes around here arrive next Tuesday, much cooler with rain chances. Nice.
  13. Local newspaper has Holdrege at over 35” for the year as of this afternoon. Not official, but my local stats I have been keeping from my gauge are very close to that. 25” is average for the entire year and it’s only September 5. Amazing.
  14. My county is now in a flood warning. Possibly up to 6” in places by the time it ends according to local met. Insane. I have over 3” now and it continues to pour.
  15. Over 2 inches in the last hour and storms keep coming. Just incredible. It is like the tropics with our everyday rainfall. It will be interesting at the end of 2018 if we set a yearly precipitation record.
  16. Storms keep moving up from the south. Third rain of the day with more the next 2 days. Completely saturated here but not officially in flood watch, 1 county away. Somehow the corn is ready to harvest for many. Been a long time since we saw the sun. We need some dry and windy days. Can’t believe I just typed that. Ha.
  17. I agree. Great conversations. Corn harvest would’ve started around here today but the heavy rainfall has stopped that from happening.
  18. Heavy storm at 8 a.m. Friday morning now pouring rain again. What a year for rainfall. Could be pushing 2 inches when it ends. Insane
  19. You are right. We played a football game in Geneva and corn was looking ready to harvest. Hope it means an early and hard winter. Need it after this long humid summer.
  20. Have also seen some trees turning. It is not related to dry weather as we have been extremely wet all summer
  21. Corn harvest is almost 2 weeks earlier than usual.
  22. Highs in the low 70’s today with dews in upper 40’s. Could get used to this.
