Brightest aurora I’ve ever seen. And it was directly overhead! Sucks it was 90% cloudy but caught a few glimpses thru gaps in the cloud deck and holy sh*t.
Hoping for more!
That gives me hope.

Very disappointing at least so far. I have yet to see a good aurora that was not just an accident and not advertised at all. I've seen a good 8 to 10 here. Still time for this to happen I suppose.

Trump is very wrong here.
He clearly never spent an hour with a serviceman that was injured. He didn’t hear their experience, their injuries, the love for country, or the having no regrets.
Until you look them in the eye (probably through their tears) then you just don’t get it.My father was a veteran. He was one that could talk of his experiences and he gave me a window into a world I could not have imagined.
The first time I saw my Dad cry was regarding a close friend that died in a plane crash into the side of a mountain. Shot downSo, people that are insensitive simply have not been forced to confront the cold reality and sacrifice of a friend’s violent death in a conflict not of their making. It isn’t all parades and music
Trump needs to visit a Veteran hospital, stop talking, and …listen.
Not his forte’.The quote you are talking about is either false or grossly out of context. Every bad thing you hear about Trump needs to be investigated before believing it.

Completely groundless bullshiet. I can't believe people continue to fall for this pap.

It takes forever to get totally dark this time of year.

Looks like the GFS has totally caved on hot weather next week now.

I'm loving the color of this aurora. Can't wait until it's dark enough here.

Let's just hope it doesn't fizzle out before it gets dark here. This looks like a good shot though.

With the frats down at SHASTA LAKE… pretty interesting stat that Portland and Redding both just hit their first 90 of the year on the same day.
Can’t imagine that’s a common occurrence.
Pretty nuts, but not shocking given how anomalously cold CA has been lately.

The long range 18z GFS reminds me a lot of the very progressive wavetrain in Fall of last year when we were transitioning into a +ENSO based weather regime. Lots of back and forth, very undecided.
The PNA is progged to be awfully deep for a really progressive pattern.

Is that part of what fuckked us over from Feb 1996-Nov 2003 here? I remember being able to see aurora in the city back in the mid 90s at one point.
That was a stronger solar max than this one. As long as this doesn't happen more times this year we should be ok.

Prospects are looking good for the aurora tonight.

At anchorage now, 100% sure it'll be too damm cloudy tonight... weird to think that I would've been better off seeing the aurora in oregon.
It probably doesn't get that dark up there this time of year either.

Now that is a serious run to run change!

The ECMWF and GFS are about 180 degrees out of phase a week from now. Crazy!

I am at this moment starting to pack up so I can go camping away from urban light pollution tonight.
Weather conditions could not possibly be better.
Hopefully it will actually pan out. Aurorae are harder to predict than weather.

@Cascadia_Wx For your sanity, don't look at the 12z
Eh...there is such a high chance it's wrong. It's easy to see why the model are all over the place by the middle of next week.

Super lame thus far. Doesn't make much sense, but these things are insanely hard to predict.
