  1. Pattern reminds me of May/June 2023. Hot, dry no rain in sight for a total of at least two weeks and some smokey skies, though not as bad. Our last drop which wasn't much was I believe 10 days ago with that quick cool shot. Looks like at least another 7 straight days with no rain. We've had very dry Septembers before and it is our driest month so it has happened before.
  2. I believe it's because it was and is very hard to keep accurate measurements and data with the tools they use for Relative humidity and dewpoints. So they don't include that data for the most part. I wonder if that will change in the future. All I know is this current weather is perfect without the humidity.
  3. I wish Summer was like this every week. Low to mid 80's and almost no humidity. Beautiful. The humidity has been outrageous in these summers. Which probably actually keeps high temps down a little, but the payoff is uncomfortable dews every day.
  4. I think I used my snowblower like 3 or 4 times last year, would like to see that number increase this year. The lakes were quite warm last year, so hopefully we get more clippers this time. I don't want that November tease and then a mild winter.
  5. After a slightly cool weekend, looks like the HEAT is on for the middle of September.
  6. Heavy severe warned storm rolling through. Hot hot hot even behind the storms. got up to 92 with a dew of 75 before the storm.
  7. Warming doesn't happen like this so fast, outside of coming out of a glacial period. Those glacial and interglacial periods are well established and studied. This is different. The earth's orbit is well studied and established and is not the cause of recent warming. To me, it's a very lazy argument to say the earth always goes through phases so this is just another one. Of course it does and over very long periods of time. I get frustrated when someone claims man can't cause climate changes (Even though we see it at a local level every day with the crops we plant, urban heat islands etc. Of course man affects the climate. There are 8 billion people pumping out CO2 unprecedented in Earth's history (outside natural causes of course). And the science backs that up. But people blame politicians because they've been indoctrinated to distrust reputable science for some reason. The politicians or the news aren't the one blaming man. It's the climate scientists. People have just been fooled (thanks to the million internet experts who "did their research" listening to some moron on youtube for clicks) into believing someone else is pushing it. They are just reporting it and doing their job. Al Gore did a great disservice to the people of America and the world when he said that doomsday was 20 years away. While his intention to bring the threat of Global Climate Change to the forefront, that was never the case then (at that current rate) and the backlash on scientists was real and understandable, even though they were not the ones saying that as a fact. But again, people still quote Al Gore as if he was even qualified to say that as an argument against it. Climate is not weather, so i don't blame every heat wave or snowstorm or rainstorm flooding on climate change. But I sure do listen to the experts when they say we can expect more extremes in the future. People look at weather and think a degree or 2 doesn't make a difference. Perhaps it doesn't when you go about your every day life. But to the oceans it matters a great deal. And as I stated above, the oceans are really all that matters. Humans got together and fixed or are in the process of fixing the ozone layer back to normal levels by 2045. Man caused that. Man fixed it. To say Man can't hurt the earth or even heal it is just simply not true. And it was fixed by "politics". But that was before the internet and countless misinformation.
  8. Agree with all of this, however, once it gets going, it's going to be hard to reverse, slow down or stop. Runaway global warming is just a possibility of what could happen (whether now or 100 years or a thousand years in the future) and one that should be examined and studied at all costs.
  9. Oceans drive our climate. Oceans are warmer. Every degree releases exponential more moisture in the air. Every degree changes the air pattern around the world. Every degree takes longer to cool down in the winter. It's the oceans.
  10. Quite the storm. My neighborhood was spared. They did issue a EDS severe thunderstorm warning. That meant the sirens went off for around 15 minutes. First I've heard of that. Probably because it was the start of rush hour in the Grand Rapids area. Muskegon had a 71 mph gusts. Radar showed 80 mph in several areas. Looks like Muskegon took the brunt of this MCS. 130K without power! Several big limbs down on my way to work. I saw a few full sized trees down as well on Alpine near Richmond @westMJim
  11. I need rain. Technically not in a drought or even "abnormally dry". But we are running 1+-2+ inch deficits in the last 30 days. Things are browning up and not much reliable relief in sight. After a wet early spring, was hoping for some wetter June days.
  12. I'm going to miss this beautiful weather. Highs in the low to mid 90's next week . Yuck.
  13. It's almost like Humans can change climate on a small scale and large scale. Crazy. Thanks for confirming the impact humans have on climate.
  14. Tornado watch here. So much for golf league tonight. Second one that will be canceled already this spring due to storms. sigh
  15. My family went to the Whitecaps game last year on this date. We were not used to 80 degree weather yet. It was HOT in the sun.
  16. Finally signs of real spring coming next week. Hopefully we are done with the 30's. 60's next week, then let's see if we can keep it around normal until the inevitable shift to INSTANT summer as usual.
  17. Sad thing is, I don't think we are done with snowflakes yet this Spring.
  18. No thread for the lead wave, but this could be quite the sneaky little juiced up storm, These type seem to thump and over perform and the local office is taking notes. That said, I wish it was spring weather, but oh well. FROM GRR AFD - HIGH CONFIDENCE FOR SNOW THURSDAY NIGHT/FRIDAY MODELS ARE FAIRLY SIMILAR CONCERNING THE EVOLUTION OF A SFC WAVE ALONG THE BAROCLINIC ZONE/ARCTIC DRAPE ACROSS THE PLAINS/MIDWEST ON THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY, LEADING TO HIGH CONFIDENCE IN THE CHANCES FOR MEASURABLE SNOW ACROSS JUST ABOUT ALL OF THE FORECAST AREA. ONE IMPORTANT DIFFERENCE IS THE OPERATIONAL GFS AXIS OF HEAVIES QPF BEING ON THE NORTHERN EDGE OF THE GUIDANCE ENVELOPE. CURRENT WPC QPF FOLLOWS THIS PATTERN, WITH GREATEST AMOUNTS FROM MKG TO MOP, BUT WE WILL HAVE TO ACCOUNT FOR THE POSSIBILITY THAT THIS TRENDS SOUTH TOWARDS THE ECMWF AND GEM WITH TIME. MID-LEVEL F-GEN SHOULD BE STRONG ENOUGH TO RESULT IN MESOSCALE BANDING WITH HIGHER SNOW RATES POTENTIALLY PERSISTING AS THE BANDS PIVOT OVER THE FORECAST AREA FOR SEVERAL HOURS. CURRENT STORM TOTAL SNOW AMOUNTS OF 6 TO 9 INCHES ACROSS THE CENTRAL/NORTHERN FORECAST AREA IS INDICATIVE OF THIS.
  19. Of course after such a warm winter and early March, winter will refuse to leave and it will probably be an awful spring. I hate it.
  20. Warm to cold to warm to cold. Hate this time of year. 69 degrees here today full sun. Feels much warmer than the 70 yesterday due to much less wind.
  21. High of 61 today, It's 66 currently. Once again temps far exceed forecast temps. With the colder air possible the latter half of the month, this isn't good. Another warm day tomorrow. Growth will kick into overdrive, that's not good.
  22. Crazy end to meteorological winter. If it weren't for 8 days in January and 1 day in February, this would be the most non winter ever. Certainly looks to end up as the one of if not the warmest winter on record here in SMI. Looks like more record highs coming on Monday. And looks to be slightly to mostly above normal as we head into the first 2 weeks of March. It's certainly going to suck when late March and April are terrible. But maybe we break that trend in this pattern this year and bring on spring for good. If this were 200 years ago, this winter would be talked about as one of those "years without a winter" At least that how it feels.
  23. Not sure the official high, but I got to 74. Possible severe weather tonight and a now Winter weather advisory has been issued lol. Flash freeze in the morning. up to an inch of snow with winds gusting to 30-40 mph tomorrow. 60's return this weekend. Now that's some crazy up and downs.
  24. I'm up to 72 at my house officially. My car got up to 75 briefly before holding steady at 74 on my ride to work after lunch. I turned my AC on because I still had my windbreaker on in my car and the window didn't help. Dewpoint at 56. Could be an icy spot or two in the morning with snow showers lol
