  1. The snow has made it down to Nanaimo airport and Ladysmith now:
  2. I've never had an issue with it through multiple freeze-thaw cycles and flash freezes. Being elevated helps with radiation freezes. But it depends on the quality of your weather station.
  3. The sky is looking better today. Most of the activity has moved north but we're still getting the odd shower or rumble. There wasn't much, if any, of a marine layer up here today.
  4. There were rolling thundershowers most of this afternoon in Victoria, much more activity than I was expecting. Still not a ton of rain, typically just 5 minute heavy showers that seemed to stop as soon as they started. Anyone have a good 24 hour lightning tracker for our region? All the ones I previously used seem to be out of service.
  5. The 18z looks a little damp this coming week. Interesting to see almost a straight line of heavier precip along the BC/WA border into the interior. Should be a huge benefit to the fire fighters -
  6. True, the climate at the higher altitudes diverges further from the lowlands at that time of year. You do have to contend with sun making for slushier snow at that time of year on sunny days.
  7. This will be my first time in Palm Springs. It looks like the weather in November there is really similar to what we typically get in July.
  8. November is as dynamic as it gets. March and April are pretty lousy months here. It's still too cold to be comfortable for many outdoor activities but almost never snows and tropical origin systems are pretty much done by then. I'll be in Palm Springs in November this year so I'm expecting there will be a blizzard while I'm away.
  9. We've had a pretty good run of luck in terms of missing out on surface smoke so far. Maybe we luck out again.
  10. It cleared out rapidly up here, but there was never much near the surface to begin with. By noon you could already see across the Strait to the Olympic Mountains again.
  11. Eagerly awaiting to see if you get an accumulation this time.
  12. Look at that mass of TPW heading toward California. It's a shame we don't have a decent trough sinking to our west to pull it north toward the PNW.
  13. How's it looking for Quebec and Northern Ontario? Seems like that's your equivalent to the BC interior when it comes to smoke souces.
  14. Up to 0.75" since last night in Victoria. We've been under a stationary band since early this morning.
  15. Currently 88F here in Victoria. Definitely going to be quite a few places over 90F up this way today.
  16. Currently 86F in Victoria after a 62F low. This would even qualify as a warm day in July around here.
  17. Looks like it's in CAD, so you can basically cut that price in half
  18. If anyone's in the market for a snowy 900 acres, Powder King ski resort is practically a steal. Comes with 40 ft of annual snow and summer lakefront on a private lake - https://snowbrains.com/for-sale-british-columbias-snowiest-ski-resort-could-be-yours-for-8-25-million/
