  1. I truly hope winter can wait until after Thanksgiving holiday. Ugh! Can you imagine the travel nightmare.........
  2. Scary to be in one of those. Tbh, I've never experienced an earthquake, but I can only imagine how frighten that must be. I cant begin to express how and what I would do in a situation like this. My only guess is to just run outside.
  3. Earth shooked in IL this morning...hopefully no injuries. A close friend of mind emailed me. 3.6 M.E. was reported. Its near the i-80 border or so.
  4. NOAA: @jaster220 @ClintonDoes this track sound familiar to ya amigos!! Ahhh, wish it was early December and just a tad colder..... Passage of the Friday cold front sets up the weekend for below normal temperatures, although with a consensus on dry weather outside of a stray lake effect snow shower. Extended range models continue refinements on the long wave pattern with some agreement on confluent NW mid level flow from central Canada into the Great Lakes. A few low predictability short waves track mainly north of the area while reinforcing the supply of cold air. Model projections start out next week with colder high pressure overhead on Monday followed a potential Ohio valley low pressure system capable of a rain/snow mix through the mid week period.
  5. So far, November has been quiet and that is how I like it. As the say goes, save the best for later. A quiet November= an active winter?? Who knows?? Anyway, this could be a sign that things could get very active by late November and into December. Hoping that is the case, especially in the month of December and into mid January. This is my favorite time of the year to get arctic airmasses and big snows as everything is at its lowest point, i.e., lowest average high and low, nighttime hours are at the longest, lowest sun angle and etc. Coldest period! After that, it is just an upward trend and heading for spring, eventually. Although it can still be fun snowise.
  6. Man, that is a lot of wind blowing in my area.
  7. I have noticed this autumn that a lot of our area has been experiencing some real chilly nights (20s and 30s). It has been the common theme. Bud, I have a gut feeling that, perhaps, this winter could be a colder one than what its being predicted. We will see and time will tell, but dang, thank god I winterized my sprinklers back in October.
  8. Am I seeing SMI get clipped there w/ the White Gold??!! ???!!!! Whaaaa!!!!!
  9. Can this weather please continue into early December. It is beautiful. I don't want any treacherous weather during the big holiday travel. Afterwards, I do. Let it snow, let it snow and let it snow. Note: if anyone is interesting, My NY apartment is on the market. I am selling it for $200,000.(Preferred all cash only). Its near the L.I.R.R. Literally, 5 min walk and lots of stores around, great pizza restaurant nearby, supermarket, gym spot and more. I do have a couple of buyers ready, so hurry up and don't delay. Location: Great Neck Area Description: 1bathroom, mini kitchen, 1 bedroom, open space for a living room set and small balcony.
  10. What beautiful weather we are having today w temps in the mid to upper 50s and lots of sunshine. Last nite a couple of rare thunderstorms moved into S MI. Very heavy rains we also reported but no severe weather. It was great hearing thunder again and seeing lightning. Reminded me of this very active severe weather season we encountered all summer. After a brief cooldown this weekend, next week looks gorgeous w lots of sunshine and mild temps w/ readings approaching possibly near 60F, maybe better.
  11. Tbh, I am liking this mild weather we are having now. I'd say save the best for later in winter. Now, December is looking very balmy for my area, so I am hoping S MI can score a couple of nice storms in January and February. Near average snowfall will make me satisfied for a nino winter.
  12. Might as well add December to the list also because (at least in my neck of the woods) its looking boring as well and mild. The whole month looks snowless w/ AN temps. January is looking by far much better though. Fingers crossed on that one. Also, SMI in November, snows are useless, (average highs still mild and average snow is relatively low), so I am not really looking for anything this month. Welcome to a Nino winter.
  13. Well, its a blanket of white outside (mostly grassy surfaces and cartops) and its snowing moderately also.Temps are at 32F and going into the 20s tanite once again. This has turned out to be a "White Halloween." A cold one as well.
  14. Yesterday I saw my first snowshowers of the season. Did not last too long, but it was great seeing them fall under that gray, ominous cloud. Currently, at 27F under mostly cloudy skies w/ more snowshowers later today and tanite. I do not expect any accumulations. Highs do not get outta the 30s. Tbh: those 70s last week felt real good and now all of this is a shock to our bodies. I wouldn't have mind a few more days in the 60s and 70s. Oh well.....
  15. This is just the beginning for them. They will have a wild winter ahead and would not be surprise a very active autumn, also. Hope they do, since last year they nearly got zilch w record breaking low snowfall for nearly every city on the i-95 corridor. Then again, MA Nature will do what it wants, so we will see what happens for them. Hopefully, we can score as well and get to at least near average snowfall for the winter. I'll be satisfied w that.
  16. From Accuweather: Tuesday Evening - Late Tuesday Night A coating to an inch of Snow Note: by weeks end, trees will be nearly all bare.
  17. This from NOAA: Could this turn out to be a white Halloween?!?! Benign but cold weather on Tuesday leads into a more active period late Tuesday into the overnight when an amplified clipper system drops across the Great Lakes. With the strong height falls and PV advection, expecting a flare-up of snow showers and potential for some minor accumulations, especially if most of the activity is overnight.
  18. How sweet this would be a month later from now: NOAA: A potent mid/upper trough is expected to eject out of the central Rockies this weekend phasing with a southern stream wave lifting out of the southern Plains resulting in an area of developing surface low tracking along the frontal boundary into the northern Ohio valley/southern Great Lakes by Sunday. Track of this system in addition to accompanying remnant Gulf moisture looking increasingly likely to bring a long duration of moderate to at times heavy rain to SE MI to start the new week. Below average temperatures then follow this system with highs beginning of the work week struggling to get above 40.
  19. My Halloween evening forecast looking very interesting, especially later at nite. Yes, first flurries of the season are advertised for Halloween nite and into the first of Nov. as a disturbance rolls on through. Lows dipping into the 20s that evening. Halloweeners will need to dress appropriately as this is looking like a cold one. Highs looking to be right around 40F and 30s for highs the following day. Brrrrrrr! November will enter on the nippy side w/ flurries perhaps flying in the air. Tis The Season.
  20. Awesome pics. Speaking of Indian summer, are ya ready for some very pleasant 70s (and maybe some upper 70s at that). It will feel fantastic being outside, but I think the warmth will be coming w showers. Hopefully, we can squeeze in some sunshine. Enjoy it bud because my forecast shows 30s for highs mid next week?????
  21. Really chilly this morning w temps hovering right at 29F. Frost was widespread in my area, as if it snowed. Beautiful scenery, along w peak colors to go w it and deep blue skies. Yep, autumn has arrived.
  22. I remember hearing reports of epic snowfall amounts out west in your neck of the woods. It was a sweet storm, especially for you guys. I received a lot of sleet w the hvy snow, but accumulated really good. Overall, a great storm for a lot of folks.
  23. Some sunshine today finally w temps hovering the upper 40s. Possible frost and freeze advisories for tanite.
