  1. I got a solid 0.65" soaking overnight. The 1.75" that has fallen this week is very welcome.
  2. The first solid storm in weeks moved through early this morning, dropping 0.85" of needed rain. The first severe warning of the season was issued due to a 60 mph wind report on the south side of CR, but I don't think we went above 45 mph.
  3. Most of my plants are going to love the sudden summer weather. However, daily 80s really isn't what I wanted for my beets just as they are growing their edible root. They have much more flavor if the temp is in the 60s to mid 70s.
  4. I'm most looking forward to being able to walk outside into 60-degree air first thing in the morning, rather than 45.
  5. It was a beautiful day around noon, with sun, light wind, and mid to upper 60s. As the afternoon progressed, the clouds moved in and thickened, the wind picked up, and the temp fell to the low 60s. It feels much cooler now.
  6. Models are suggesting our low temp may not fall much below 70 early to mid next week. That will feel good walking outside in the morning. I've had enough of the chill. Tom, I also like the Culver's butterburgers, but I usually go with the pork tenderloin... mmmmm. I've always thought northeast Oklahoma wouldn't be a bad place to live.
  7. I had just a bit of light frost in the open part of my yard this morning. The patch of clouds around midnight likely saved us a few degrees. It will still be below normal for the next week.
  8. I spent a couple hours covering all my tender plants. I hate early/late frosts/freezes.
  9. I picked up 0.73" of rain yesterday. There were some storms with heavy rain(2-3") to the south, but here it was just a stratiform cool rain.
  10. It's looking like we may have more lows in the 30s coming this weekend.
  11. I have barely started on my garden. I need to get my pots done today and at least half my in-ground plants tomorrow before next week's rain soaks the soil.
  12. The smoke moved in here last hour. It smells like I'm back at boy scout camp.
  13. The upper low ended up being a bit more progressive than what the euro showed a few days ago, so we actually had a pretty good week. We managed to reach the mid 60s yesterday and upper 60s today. The light wind made today particularly pleasant. Friday may be our warmest day of the year. DVN has me hitting 84.
  14. Today's upper 50s felt pretty decent after a week of cold. I hope this weekend we can turn the corner for good.
  15. In their afternoon disco, DVN said they are leaning toward the upper low being a little more progressive.
  16. That big upper low dropping down and parking over the eastern lakes next week on the euro is pretty ugly. Even over here on the western periphery, the latest euro has us struggling to reach 60 Wednesday and Thursday after a brief, tepid recovery Mon/Tue. I have a bunch of plants waiting to be planted, but it will be a while longer. Hopefully, this pattern will finally flip by next weekend.
  17. A few days ago Friday looked like a decent break with low 60s, but we were again stuck in the upper 40s all day. Two more nasty days to go.
  18. It's not much fun when we get multiple rainy, chilly days in a row this time of year. At least today it is a few degrees warmer and the wind is not howling like yesterday. Saturday will be another nasty day. It may or may not linger into Sunday, but that should be it for nastiness for a while.
  19. Yeah, it's pretty nasty out today.... mid 40s, wind-driven rain.
  20. And just down the road, in Cedar Rapids, we only had 20.0", and I think only 10-15" fell in part of southeast Iowa. It was a very sharp gradient across Iowa from nw to southeast.
  21. Region 1.2 is crashing and just went negative for the first time.
  22. Recent model runs are suggesting much cooler for Chicago on Monday as a front comes down from the north. It quickly rebounds by midweek, however.
  23. I got lucky and picked up another 1.11" of rain today, with 1" of that coming this morning from a thin line of storms. I had light thunder in the area for a few hours. That's two 1" rain events in the last week.
  24. The warm 8-14 day CPC map above looks nice, but recent runs of the GFS and Euro suggest the opposite, with another stretch of cool weather settling into the northern US. Let's hope not.
