  1. It's impossible for us to imagine. Just think, to get from -80 just to 32 degrees requires a warming of 112 degrees. That's the same difference as 32 degrees to 144 degrees.
  2. Also, the "weeklies" will be run daily instead of 2x week. They also can use the daily 46 day run as a "super ensemble" for the really long range when you combine several days. Guessing there may be a daily "super ensemble average" product.
  3. It's been pretty consistent. And the long range gefs has also been showing it.
  4. Still snowing here. Wet snow though and not adding up. Actually wishing for a good rain before hopefully turning colder late in the month. I have had a little over 100 inches of snow since early November with very little melting. And a good amount of freezing rain thrown in. In fact I haven't had any actual plain old rain since either very early November or late October. And even though building codes require roofs to be able to withstand very high snow loads, it's early January and I would like some snow off the roof in case we get a lot of snow later January and February.
  5. The long range EPS at one point was showing a huge ridge over us the week after Christmas and buying. Not been impressed with its' performance lately. Though the other ensembles were also showing it.
  6. Off topic, but thus reminds me of some of the videos of cars sliding out of control down hills.
  7. Regardless of what happens next winter, Ninas almost always weaken this time of year. IIRC they briefly went positive last year in late winter.
  8. 7 more inches of snow here and still snowing. Cold air damming doing its thing.
  9. Actually not that much of a torch. Certainly not the kind of pattern that is cold, though retrogression is possible, and the weeklies show that. Anyway, 2m temp anomalies. Obviously not cold, but not a major torch either.
  10. I think elevation does explain it. They are 1400' higher than Leavenworth and Wenatchee, and their average temps are about 3 degrees colder than Leavenworth and about 4-5 degrees colder than Wenatchee.
  11. And Leavenworth and Wenatchee are expecting 4-6 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow morning. As far as Waterville, it is 2600' in elevation, where Wenatchee and Leavenworth are about 1200'.
  12. So Everett North is rain, but south of that is snow. And snow in the upper 30s at that. Thought the new GFS was supposed to correct that.
  13. It is touristy for sure, and December is crazy. Traffic at times is awful. Leads to a good local economy though, and it's nice to be in a small town with so many restaurants, a summer Theatre, and a performing arts center that all only exist in this small town because of tourism.
  14. Will this be all rain for the Tahoe area? Rain or snow, it's a problem.
  15. December with the cold and snow is Nina like. And there was also a lot of snow and cooler weather in November. Heavy mountain snow pack also is Nina like. January of course with the heavy California precip is more Nino like. So most of the winter has been like a Nina. But it's good to see California getting so much snow and rain now.
  16. Yeah just slightly below normal temps. But it's a start, maybe.
  17. That makes more sense, thanks for the clarification. Also CPR trained, as is my RN wife who has actually done it a few times. Though as a hospice RN, she likely won't be doing it any time soon, at least not on the job. And so far I have not had to do it yet, though I am trained for it due to my job.
  18. Not true. In fact the whole purpose of CPR is to deliver oxygen to the brain. It certainly is not as good at delivering oxygen to the brain as normal breathing/heart beating would be, in fact only about 20% as effective, but that can keep someone alive. Especially when done by professionals. Certainly brain damage is a concern though.
