Been to Puerto Vallarta plenty of times and was just there in December for Christmas, got to know the locals well and love chatting them up with culture and current events. Was hoping for a day of thunderstorms and lightning like last time, it's their only interesting weather.
You're fairly spot on, the cartels and the government basically have this unspoken truce with the touristy areas. A lot of money flows through P.V., and everyone involved knows better than to disturb the flow. I felt more safe walking around Zona Romantica bar-hopping late every night and then back to my hotel, compared to walking around Capitol Hill in Seattle. Well, that peace shattered today and we'll just have to see if it calms down or PV ends up being the next Acapulco. Sad to see for the locals and people trapped there.
It’ll take at least forty of these storms to make up for the snow deficit your region has suffered through. I’m praying that we see ice sheets flow from Killington, down the valley, and into the bay. Only when everything you know and love in Boston has been ground into fresh loam, will New England snow weenies have been made whole.
