It was hotter than I expected today. Not pleasant.

A big RARE over performance for Everett today. Blindsided. Did not expect it. Forecasted to be 75F. We hit 80F. A big 8-0. Surprising in all honesty. We usually underperform the forecasts nearly every day.

Just got back from a few days in the Bay Area, where the weather was lovely. Could see the plumes from the Grasshopper Fire and the Bench/Beachcomb Fire on the flight back. Grasshopper Fire is definitely devouring some nice timber on the edge of the Mt. Hood National Forest.

Definitely the best recent summer month here, but it will still go down as yet another warm + dry month for PDX. The 4th in a row there.

Everyone knows July 1936 was exceptional hot for most reading. But I didn't know it held the HI record for DSM ( kept since 1936). One would think it would be more recent with UHI and more water vapor in the air especially compared to the 1930's. So I went and looked at 7/25/1936 and found the High temp for DSM was 110F (all time high for the DSM area tied with Aug 4, 1918) and the low for the date was 76F. but to have a HI of 122- assuming it occurred with 110F temp would mean a sultry 71.5F F dewpoint as shown which many think did not happen in July of 1936 in the plains. Well it did that day. It surprised me.
