  1. You would probably like my place, I have a baseball/wiffleball stadium in the back yard with 25' MLB type foulpoles, a faux jumbotron and lights. Apparently a bit immature but I also have a pickleball court too. Haven't put the artificial golf green in the lawn yet though.
  2. At minimum they should vacate all batting records and pitching records against. All this talk the last couple of years about pitchers tipping pitches. There's a ton of guys in the minors that could hit if they knew every pitch.
  3. Anybody know why the snow showers are blowing up in the middle of kitsap? I know when it's going the opposite direction the cold air is damming up against the olympics. You can really see it on the doppler. Just tiny flakes and a little blue and then blows up to big shower.
  4. Just hoping GH is not shadowed tonight. Watching football game also.
  5. Anybody know if the rotation of snow showers coming in is going to drop south or go north?
  6. Dropped 3 degrees, now at 33 and gradually from sleet/graupel? to snow. NE Gig Harbor. I guess I'm right on the CZ or front boundry because the radar is popping up just before it gets to my place.
  7. Somethings wrong with all these models, show a hole over GH. Not counting on anything until I see it. Had a tough time shoveling that 1/64" off the driveway this morning.
  8. Cool, looked like it worked great. I guess it's OK GH got shutout and only light dusting. Last year I still had my dad's dozer at my place and used it on my 400' hilly driveway. I've thought about doing the dozer thing on my lawn tractor but we don't get much snow in GH.
  9. Showing snow on the radar south of the Olympics. I don't think the elevation is very high where it's snowing.
  10. Have several friends out in the hills, Seabeck hood canal area and amazing how many times they get 6" or more snowfalls.
  11. I lived west of Hiway 16 in Port Orchard at 400' and would get some crazy snow at times. Right at the edge of those hood canal snows.
  12. In GH now but lived SW of PO for 50yrs and we rarely got that warmth. The crazy warm winds from the eastside don't have much effect in Kitsap. Tonight in GH we got weird 6 degree bump for less than an hour and now back down to 47.
  13. Nephew in Buckley said it's up to 63 with wind picking up. He get's crazy swings at his place and insane east winds.
  14. Unusual for My place in GH in that it was 47 an hour ago, then 48 less than a half hour ago and now almost 52. My house doesn't get much wind even compared to a half mile on either side of the house.
  15. We've had some single digits in Port Orchard over the years. 2 once, 4 I think another time and a couple other times like 8 and 9. In Gig Harbor now, 2000' from the sound, temp barely changes. Below zero in Pullman when I was there. Had an intramural flag football game at 4 degrees. Yikes, thankfully everybody else made the same mistake I did and wore cleats. A bunch of guys gingerly trying to run because their cleats weren't digging in.
  16. This afternoon I stopped by my dad's place a couple miles SW of Port Orchard at 400' elevation, and there was still about 2" of snow in the sunny areas and about 4-6" in the shady areas. I heard they got several inches both Thursday and Friday. A bit more on Friday. The areas closer to the canal usually get more. My place in Gig Harbor 370' elevation and 2000' from the sound even had a little over a half inch on Thursday and I'm guessing 1-2" on Friday. It stopped snowing about 2? and the sun came out pretty quickly on Friday. I noticed other areas at least an inch melted by the time I got home after 5. They plowed at some time on my road. What a difference elevation made this week. Thursday there was nothing on the ground at 320' elevation and raining less than a mile away from my place at less than 30'. The areas up to 10 miles or so from Hood Canal get some crazy cold/snow/precip at times. I lived there for 50 years before moving 2 1/2 years ago to GH, and you get pretty good at predicting snow. That cold air gets pushed up against the Olympics and you get enhanced precipitation and the cold air can stay in place for quite a while. It's not uncommon to get 2-3X more rain than Seatac with the Pineapple expresses, but you can get some pretty significant rain shadowing with other systems. Before the internet, forecasters rarely predicted Kitsap County snow. And especially on those really crazy occasions where it was in the 40's in Tacoma or Seattle and we would have 6" of snow at 27 degrees.
  17. Shearer Hill rd, I was thinking it's around 800'? Trying to remember what yr it was when they had 22" with a layer of ice on top. There are a lot of times where they have a tough time getting up or down the hill with little or no snow a mile or two away at the bottom. Really hot there in the summer and fall, warm evenings.
  18. My brother lives in the hills in that area. He's had some big snows over the years.
  19. I think it's gonna be pretty light. Part of it went over my place earlier. It was a very light drizzle but I'm close to the sound at 35.
  20. Extremely heavy snow in GH for about 20 minutes or so. Moderate snow now. Friend of mine in Sunny Slope, West of Port Orchard, 500'+ elevation measured 6". Haven't measured but area we cleared off after about 2" has 2 1/2" now. So probably 4 1/2" in the Gig Harbor banana belt.
  21. Of course right after I posted the snow slowed down in Gig Harbor.
  22. It's been coming down at a really good clip in Gig Harbor also. I'm guessing about 2" of new.
