  1. It's pouring right now. I mean pouring for the last 30 minutes. Lightning and tremendous thunder in this one. Wish you guys could experience it. The house absolutely shook. We have rain today and tonight forecast. We'll see if it actually does give us that much rain. It was very warm this morning but temps are supposed to drop into the high 80's. Currently 79* and we've received just under .50" of rain in the past 40 minutes. Nice little shower.
  2. Get well soon, Jesse. But enjoy that "room service" while you can.
  3. Perhaps. I've read everything blamed on fracking here in Texas, including our occasional rare quakes, which we got before fracking began. I'm not saying some aren't. Heavy forcing of water into some faults may cause a quake, but to see a sudden cluster like this is suspicious. I'm sure they've been disposing of water for some time. So the sudden explsion of quakes in a short period of time is suspicious. If it continues, it may well be like those around Guthrie, Oklahoma. But only time will tell. On a side note. We've had fracking all around us in Texas for a long time, yet we don't see clusters like that despite plenty of small intercontinental faults in our gas areas.
  4. It's 103* out there! Feels like 116*. Yeah, Can't make this stuff up. Front blowing in. We'll have rain and 89* tomorrow with a low of 73*. That's life in Texas. Blink and it changes.......except when it doesn't. This may be the last hurrah of summer, I hope, but I've seen 100's in October
  5. Congrats Madtown!! Gorgeous baby and looks like you’re primed for celebration!
  6. But that sounds like Texas! we do that often in Jan. And Feb.
  7. It doesn't matter how you feel about aliens or anything related. This is just cool. Located near McMurdo Station ont he South Pole, this is an eyebrow raiser. latitude and longitude: 72°00′ 36.00” S , 168° 34′ 40.00” E
  8. Looking wetter and chilly here. Sure beats those cold, dry killing winters we can get.
  9. Tuesday we. May see our last 100* day with the Met threatening us with 104*. Afterward temps will drop into the low 90's as we begin to win the annual battle with the sun and more fronts swing south. We could see rain Wed. Or Thurs but it isn't anything to get excited about.
  10. https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-08-23/giant-pumice-raft-makes-its-way-to-great-barrier-reef/11444020 A couple sailing their catamaran to Fiji came upon an enormous floating island of pumice. It scraped along the sides of the craft in an eerie other worldly sea. It seems an underwater volcano erupted recently and the pumice has been slowly floating its way toward Australia's Great Barrier Reef. You have to watch this short video of their sailing in the pumice. I used to sail a good deal and believe me, this would unnerve you. Luckily they tacked starboard and managed to get out of it and on to Fiji.
  11. 9 quakes this week in Kansas and Okla. All >2.0 4 in Oklahoma in Medford, Pawnee, Helena 5 in Kansas near South Hutchinson. ~5km deep
  12. We got a little thunderstorm popped up this evening. I honestly thought it would just slip North and east but it pouring outside. I'm grabbing some fresh rain for inside plants that's nice and charged from all the lightning. Temps dropped to 73*. We'll be back to 99-100 tomorrow but I'll enjoy this while I can. I think slowly the summers back is being broken and we will see our way out of the past 3-4 dreadful weeks. Looks like we'll get .20 to .25" of rain. But still, nice.
  13. It's looking like Texas will see a high of 92* on Wednesday. We may FINALLY be out of the woods. Mornings will feel like a cold front!
  14. At least you're climbing in elevation. Tucson will be cooler, though not cool.
  15. Here are some maps to give you a big picture of the mid continent. Normally quiet, this recent activity can't be chalked up to oil wells, or fracking. The Guthrie Ok. area swarm may be oil and gas related. There's a great deal of work ongoing there, but I don't buy this gross generalization that's been going on. Mid continent quakes occur and that is just a fact. Note the Central US zone The New Madrid Zone with Relates Quakes
  16. Its great to hear your thoughts guys. They reflect many of my own. These cycles are just starting to add up on each other. The volcanic activity has been more intense this year with SO2. Usually they pop off, interfere with airlines, then dissipate. Volcanos reaching higher altitudes is a sure sign that there are these deep earth pressures are building up and big magma chambers winding up for the pitch. I'm with you Tom, the earthquakes are getting weird. I've been holding my breath on the Cascades and Southern California for some time. The recent quakes east of the LA area were concerning. Although it doesn't necessarily indicate the big one is next. The quake swarm in Kansas and Oklahoma has been raising a lot of eyebrows. And yes, the growth of a new glacier has certainly escaped the eyes of the global warming media. It isn't any one event usually, so much as it's the collective. And it's slowly adding up Seemingly unrelated events are painting a picture that reveals the earth is undergoing a very big change. Ice Ages don't typically send out big announcements. They reveal themselves in the dynamic if we keep our eyes open. Keep searching out the news guys. We're off to a good start!
  17. Everyone's been incredibly quiet lately. Tell me, there have been over 65 earthquakes in Kansas and Oklahoma over the past week. Now, to put it plainly, ...that ain't normal. As this is a solar Minimum thread perhaps we should consider that this might be a side effect of the GSM. Quakes pick up during that period, as does volcanic action which has been pretty stable lately. Something's always popping off, but no big ones as yet. The next solar cycle is forecast to be lower than this last one. So, maybe things are just getting warmed up. I'll ask again....any thoughts on this? Or are you just content to read and not think and share? It's getting weird out there. And it will affect us all.
  18. I don't know if this has anything to do with the New Madrid or perhaps a mid continent Fault yet to be discovered, but this is a lot of quakes. Something is moving. Now, is this due to the Grand Solar Minimum or just business as usual ? ______________________ This Isn’t Normal: Kansas And Oklahoma Have Been Hit By 65 Earthquakes Within The Last 7 Days The state of Kansas is certainly known for a lot of things, but earthquakes are not one of them, and that is why what we just witnessed is so startling. According to the Kansas City Star, one county in central Kansas alone has been hit by 11 quakes within the past five days… Further south, Oklahoma has experienced even more earthquakes than Kansas has over the past seven days. Overall, there has been a total of 65 earthquakes between the two states over the past week. That definitely isn’t normal, and we should keep a close eye on this. http://endoftheamericandream.com/archives/this-isnt-normal-kansas-and-oklahoma-have-been-hit-by-65-earthquakes-within-the-last-7-days
  19. Looks like Texas is shut out. I was hoping for rain, but he isn't even hopeful about that. Last year was cold here, but we saw little rain.
  20. Hanging as hard as I can at 103* this afternoon.
  21. Well, I posted this here so the central US forum could think about whether they felt any or not. It's just so rare to see a swarm in Kansas.
  22. Central Kansas has experienced 11 earthquakes in a week. Anyone feel it? https://www.kansascity.com/news/state/kansas/article234125492.html 2.4 to 4.2. Mid continent quakes are not common. But these have been surprising.
  23. It's 100 heading for 102. Forecast for tomorrow is 103. All this talk of Fall is making me crazy as I sweat while trying to keep my flowers alive. If the A/C failed right now, I'd commit "hari-kari" Everyone is totally maxed out with this heat. Enough already. Bring on Fall.
