  1. Likely the Solar Minimim not the political AGW agenda at work. Texas has had a very damp cold winter. I expected a snow but none appeared. I think our chances are over now. If we can just get rain through early June maybe summer won’t be so bad. Opinions Tom?
  2. Record snowfall hit Flagstaff and snow was seen as far south as Sierra Vista heart he border. Is it just me, or are we seeing snowfall further south than normal ?
  3. I’m not ready for March!! It means Spring down here. St. Paddy’s Day is usually our starters gun for Spring. :/ We’re very very wet and chilly at 48* Expecting 70* tomorrow with sun.
  4. Every February, when weather conditions allow, Horsetail Fall on the eastern side of El Capitan appears to turn into a waterfall of fire or molten lava. With enough rainfall and clear skies, the lava-like effect occurs at sunset over a two-week stretch when the angle of the setting sun hits it just right. https://www.sfgate.com/outdoors/article/Yosemite-firefall-2019-no-reservations-parking-lot-13628099.php#photo-16952283
  5. Try Texas, We get screwed coming and going. Rainy winters and hell fire summers. I have to laugh at all the folks from New York and California that move here for the economy and leave because of the weather! I mean, duh. It's Texas people!! We don't have lovely cool evenings in the summer. You could bake a plate of brownies on a summer evening here. Lol There's no skiing, unless it's water skiing. No ice skating, no snow boarding. But if you want to broil while watching some NASCAR or a rodeo, y'all come! It's Texas.
  6. I was expecting at least one small snow event here and nada! The only snow I saw on radar came up from the south - hill country. Lol. All we've seen in North Tx has been cold damp weather. We won't refuse the rain, but hey, a Lookee-loo snow would have been a nice change. We could still get a late dusting, but I'm not holding my breath.
  7. Pondering this. The nerd in me wonders if there's any quantum relationship here? I may be pushing that idea a bit and perhaps there's an electrical field between these nerves that we either can not or have not measured yet, but I'm amazed and very curious as to what the mechanism is that makes this possible.
  8. 36* heading up to High of 38*. Low tonight 31*. 70% Chance rain. Rain is currently moving up from the south at 8am. Stands to be pissy gnarly day. That's official.
  9. https://weather.com/news/weather/news/2019-02-18-snow-las-vegas-nevada-february Vegas Sees Snow For 2nd Time In Feb. https://www.latimes.com/local/california/la-me-ln-mega-storm-dam-failure-20190218-story.html Calif May Be Due damaging Flood Scientists call it California’s “other big one,” and they say it could cause three times as much damage as a major earthquake ripping along the San Andreas Fault. Although it might sound absurd to those who still recall five years of withering drought and mandatory water restrictions, researchers and engineers warn that California may be due for rain of biblical proportions — or what experts call an ARKStorm.
  10. As a Psychology major this absolutely blows me away. Even the scientistists are amazed. _________________ https://www.sciencealert.com/neuroscientists-say-they-ve-found-an-entirely-new-form-of-neural-communication Scientists think they've identified a previously unknown form of neural communication that self-propagates across brain tissue, and can leap wirelessly from neurons in one section of brain tissue to another – even if they've been surgically severed. "To ensure that the slice was completely cut, the two pieces of tissue were separated and then rejoined while a clear gap was observed under the surgical microscope," the authors explain in their paper. "The slow hippocampal periodic activity could indeed generate an event on the other side of a complete cut through the whole slice." "It was a jaw-dropping moment," Durand says, "for us and for every scientist we told about this so far." _______________________________ And Slow periodic activity in the longitudinal hippocampal slice can self‐propagate non‐synaptically by a mechanism consistent with ephaptic coupling https://physoc.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1113/JP276904
  11. Texas will be enjoying 33* to 40* Rain. 10-15 mph winds. See you guys at the coffee-bar!
  12. 42*. Feels like 36*. Low tonight 36*. Cloudy Winds 10-15 mph. Generally miserable with an increased probability of Certainly miserable. Rain chances rising to 80% mañana. High of 40* Low of 33* with rain. Gnarly to downright Lousy.
  13. The shallow quake struck at 2 am Sunday morning and felt in a wide area. Epicenter was west of Santa Rosa. This is just one of several that have hit the central coastline this year.
  14. I thinkTexas will be on the usual cold rain train for our winter. But I’ll take rain as we could be crying for it this summer.
  15. I’ll keep my fingers crossed for NE Okla. Texas will likely only see rain from here on. Oh well, nice try.
  16. Well, Texas weather has changed a good deal over the past 15 yrs. Far fewer tornados, more straight line winds. Milder winters generally. We received over 60” of rain this yr. that’s 2Xs our normal rainfall. I haven’t seen anything like in my lifetime and I’m no kid. Definitely different down here. Tornado Alley seems to have shifted NE of us. Somethings up.
  17. Amazing. https://m.sfgate.com/weather/article/Hawaii-recorded-what-may-be-the-lowest-elevation-13607099.php
  18. Well, 55*. Going down to 39*. Pretty underwhelming, except I got my darn rain !
  19. Any snow that Texas saw remained south. Waco saw sleet. The whole experience was an embarrassment though I'm sure they enjoyed the snowflakes in Hill Country. We had drizzle today and rain on deck tomorrow. Low of 35* tonight and 45* tomorrow. Sounds like a good day to stay in and find a good movie or game to watch. This winter has been a bust for Texas.
  20. DFW area is sitting at 34* calm winds. Lows tonight at 27*. Ice and Snow are moving up from the SW across Tx. Hill Country. We should see some sleet and snow from 5 pm into evening. Rain will come in for the weekend with temps in the 40's slowly climbing into the 60's. At least it's acting like winter and not Spring.
  21. Currently at 69*. Really humid. At 93%. Temperatures will plunge tomorrow night to 29* then begin to rise. 40% chance of rain Rain Sunday through Tuesday. Finally - rain. Highs in 50's and 60's. Very typical winter weather for us.
  22. 68*. Beautiful clear evening. Light breeze. DON’T WORRY SPRING’S ALMOST HERE !!
  23. Hit 81* today shy of the 82* record. Registered 84 at my house however. Turned a/c on and wouldn’t you know it..... a/c and heat pump coughed up a lung. Must be replaced. It’ll be Beanie-Weenies for awhile. D@#& !
