  1. I'm just wondering how many alcoholics have been created by the Taylor Swift drinking game (because you KNOW it exists). Drink a shot every time they say her name, drink 2 shots every time they show her. Blackout drunk by the end of the first quarter.
  2. Since this winter seems to be a write-off, here are a couple of interesting cold winter videos I came across. @MR.SNOWMIZER might appreciate this other one. I love how they have to wait for the oil to turn back into a liquid…
  3. Was talking to my colleague in Minneapolis, and they are having a crazy warm winter as well. He said his kids are out riding their bikes instead of sledding, and he bought a new snowblower for this winter that has yet to be used. Last winter he was having to get up on his roof to shovel it because of the snow loads. He also said lots of folks are falling through the ice while ice fishing.... Currently 51 here, but I am guessing we will warm up a bit later in the day.
  4. Friend just came down with it, and my wife said its burning through folks at her work, which is a cancer clinic....last place you want something like this going through.
  5. Unfortunately, it has been hammered by the same home price explosion many other cities in Montana have had to deal with, and is unaffordable for many. Not Bozeman unaffordable, but would still probably be a big challenge for your average PNW'er to get into the real estate market. That said, I haven't looked at it in a year or so, I have no idea what the interest rates have done to cool the market. I think Helena and Butte are the only larger sized "cities" in Montana that are affordable, but a large part of Helena has contaminated drinking water, and Butte is just kind of a sh*t hole.
  6. I think Missoula struggles with inversions in the wintertime, but otherwise yeah they don't get nearly as cold as Bozeman, Great Falls, or Billings.
  7. Yeah I know, I was exaggerating a bit, but you have to admit, the weather is categorically pretty boring down there. Florida is quite predictable and could be called "boring" in the summer time: sunny, hot, humid, chance of afternoon thunderstorms....but at least those thunderstorms make it interesting (unless you hate thunderstorms).
  8. Except maybe if you found the weather dynamics of that region fascinating. We all know it is an incredibly difficult area to forecast, so for a weather geek, what better place to be. For the most part, he posts about our region or indicators that will influence our region. Sometimes he talks about his region, sometimes its interesting, sometimes its not. Sometimes it shows that he still does not grasp all of the dynamics of our region, but folks on here have no problem pointing that out, and he *usually* recognizes his miss. I guess I would find it a little more odd if he was constantly posting on the SoCal weather forum.....today sunny 75/65, tomorrow sunny 75/65, the next day, sunny 75/65, the next day, sunny 75/65, the next day, sunny 75/65, the next day, sunny 75/65, the next day, sunny 75/65, the next day, sunny 75/65, the next day, sunny 75/65, the next day, sunny 75/65, the next day, sunny 75/65, the next day, sunny 75/65, the next day, sunny 75/65, the next day, sunny 75/65, the next day, sunny 75/65
  9. 1.66" so far out of this event, 5.78" for the month. My yard is completely destroyed going from all of that cold/snow switching to all of this rain. Looks like I am going to be figuring out how to do a french drain with a sump/lift pump this spring/summer. Tried to take my dog out there this morning, and she looked at all the standing water on the surface, then back at me like "do I have to go out there?"
  10. ouch....are you on electric heat? I guess I should not complain about my electric bill. my last bill was for Dec 10-Jan 10, and it's traditionally my worst bill of the year because of Christmas lights and...December. Although now that I think about it, that's not true any more now that we have A/C. We pay about $150-160 or so max in the summer, about $130 or so max in the winter. My gas bill on the other hand is going to hurt. That was $175 for 12/6 to 1/8. With my wife both working from home, we don't get any relief from turning the temp down during the day while we are gone. The furnace was running A LOT at the peak of the cold a couple of weeks ago.
  11. We did a Norwegian Cruise that went through those 2 cities, as well as Skagaway. Definitely something I am glad I did once, but not sure I would ever do it again.
  12. 57 up here in Bellingham with .44" for the day. As for all of the talk of the PNW mountains and scenery, while it is truly incredible, the mountains of the Alaska inside passage is on another level. If I thought I could handle the dark winters, I would move to Juneau, Ketchikan,or Sitka in a heartbeat
  13. What's worse than a "state of emergency?" Whatever it is, that's what would be needed to describe those conditions... Maybe it would be a state of "Oh fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu*k"
  14. Oh sure there are independents and moderates that align with D/R, my comment was directed towards your statement that there is room for moderates or liberals in the Republican party. That could not be further from the truth. Pretty much my whole life I have drifted either side of the D/R line as a firm moderate. While I do not consider myself a democrat at this point in time, I can categorically say I am NOT a Republican. There may be some traditional republican positions that I agree with, but I am absolutely disgusted with how the Republican party is handing themselves on those topics.
  15. Negative Ghostrider. Maybe in your parent's Republican party, but not this one.
  16. .47" for the day, 3.9" for the month, and that includes whatever snow/ice piled up on my rain gauge and went through it while melting. Warm rain today pretty much killed off the snow, the only thing left is piles left over from shoveled driveways and sidewalks. Starting to hear rumblings about raising snow levels and pineapple express next week. Really hope that doesn't happen, the ground is so saturated from the snow melt up here. I was walking around the back yard with my dog this afternoon and pools of water would squeeze out of the ground wherever I stepped. I personally should be fine, but other folks like @North_County, not so much.
  17. D**n, I wish I had known, I was pretty heavy into VW up until last year and turn my own wrenches. Had the whole VAGCOM reader set up and everything. I gave all of my VW specific tools, VAGCOM set up, etc to the buyer of my Jetta Sportwagen when I sold it last summer. Golf R.....hmmm....folks have been able to successfully transplant the Golf R AWD system into TDI Jetta Sportwagens. So you had the extra room of the wagon, the torque and power of the TDI (especially if it was deleted and tuned) with the AWD. Traction was my biggest complaint with that car, I could chirp the tires in 3rd, sometimes even in 4th. If I got on it on wet pavement I would spin the tires through 4th gear. That car desperately needed AWD! Ah well, @MR.SNOWMIZER will take good care of you!!!
  18. When I lived in Oregon in the late 90's, I had a '69 bug and I unfortunately nuked the motor. The old motor burned oil, and for the most part I was pretty good about staying on top of it. A flickering oil light when I was going around a freeway cloverleaf on my drive home from work was my "last warning." One night I realized I hadn't added oil in a while, and I hadn't seen the light flicker. As I was noodling that out in my brain, realizing "oh crap I'm probably really low on oil" the motor let go. I had knocked the wire to the pressure sensor off. There was only one shop in all of Oregon that still built aircooled VW engines, and it was in Eugene. I think I paid $600-700 for a rebuilt motor, with a $200 core charge. I did the swap myself with the help of a friend. Man I miss that car!
  19. Beautiful cars!! Family (cousins) owned an Oldsmobile dealership in Georgia, so that's what a lot of our family drove. The part of the family that owned the dealership of course had 442s. My branch of the family favored the Cutlass with the 350 Rocket engine. One car that was eventually given to my brother was a....72 or 73? (it had 4 headlights) and had the 350 rocket with the 4 barrel carb and "ran like a raped ape" My grandmother's last car was a late 70's/early 80's Delta 88. She took me to a doctor's appointment in Atlanta when I was about 6 or 7, and she turned in front of a little Datsun B210 or B510 that was absolutely hauling a**. We had the turn arrow so it was the other driver's fault. The crash spun us around 270 degrees, I was in the back seat right where she hit (passenger side rear wheel/quarter panel). The radiator of the Datsun was pretty much pushed back to the base of the windshield. That Delta 88 was built like a friggen tank. It dented the back door, quarter panel and the hubcap. I'm sure the rear axle was knocked askew as it took the brunt of the impact forces, but regardless we drove home and my grandmother got the car fixed. Too bad they don't make cars like that any more.
  20. It was, but unfortunately, I have a very dark sense of humor so not gonna lie, I LMAO at that one. And, being an aviation buff, I was watching the coverage and saw this happen real time. Unfortunately, I haven't found a friend group that can handle my humor up here. A the few times I tested the waters, it was like ripping a big 'ole wet juicy fart in church. I had an awesome group when I lived in Oregon, no boundaries at all, and we had some material that probably would have even had an Eddie Murphy type saying "too far guys...too far"
  21. Ho Lee Shiz.... Must be related to the pilots of that Asiana flight that crash landed in San Francisco back in 2013
  22. Is that available online or published somewhere? I would love to read up on that.
  23. The only certainty is you can count on is never say never. That said, I don't see the Seahawks going anywhere. I'm sure if Jody decides to sell, there are plenty of billionaires in Puget Sound who would be willing to write a check (even a few getting together in the form of an "ownership group"). As for Coach Pete, I don't like it either. The emotional fan part of me is still pissed, but I have watched a few sports commentators that have pointed out all the signs that the writing was on the wall. As for his replacement, sounds like all signs are pointing to Vrabel, which doesn't sound like it would necessarily be a bad thing.
  24. Here is the current state of the snow up here at my house. It’s putting up a good fight, though we did dip down to about 33-34 last night before midnight.
