  1. Snow definitely would’ve added to the fun, but overall the blast this January was pretty top tier in every other aspect. Who knows when we will actually see ice formations like this down on the Puget sound again. Might be decades before it happens again.
  2. Didn’t Spokane come close to or get a sub zero high with that? I’m honestly not sure what the -PNA was with that blast.
  3. Lol we posted this at the same time. Yeah…like I was saying I feel like that event kind of gets discounted because most people on the forum are from the Seattle metro. It was an insane blast though I’ve never seen salt water freeze like it did in January.
  4. I mean we did just have the biggest Arctic blast in over 30 years this JANUARY. I think a lot of people kind of forget about it because most of Seattle didn’t get any snow…but it was quite the winter storm down in western OR and towards the tail end up north.
  5. Was pretty frosty here this morning at work in snoqualmie. We’ve had a few mornings that were pretty frosty here in the last couple weeks as well.
  6. One thing that this may (so far) has lacked is the convective activity we had in 2023. Had some nice storms on 5/3/23 and 5/15/23.
  7. Looking like it won’t be that much hotter down in Las Vegas and Utah than it will be up here later this week and this weekend. Figured when I booked the trip it’d probably end up being much warmer down there than it would be at home.
  8. Only picked up 0.63” of rain the past few days. Still better than the final total of 0.50” we got in May 2018 I guess.
  9. We’ve had 0.49” of rain this weekend so far.
  10. Our lord and savior Jeesus has issued a HEAVY drizzle advisory here in Tacoma this morning. 0.45” here in the last ~24 hours and drizzly this morning.
  11. Glad it’s looking like we’re far enough south to get something out of this soaker. Rain in the warm season (May-September) just hits different. I definitely enjoy warmish humid rain more than our typical climo cold rain.
  12. Glad to hear you’re doing better with the leg injury. My injury was much different and I was also younger…but I broke my right leg and ankle in July 2018. I had no idea how hard it would actually be to learn to walk again it was even worse than the surgeries or initial pain for me. I’m about 90-95% in my right leg almost 6 years later I’d say.
  13. This was very helpful I really appreciate you taking the time to write this up. Besides a couple state parks I hadn’t looked much into things outside of the national parks so this is great info.
  14. Yeah, maybe part of my opinion on disrespect to the environment is just my overall axe to grind with people my age and younger. This place is the closest thing I have to social media…I feel like overall social media has made people very vain and idiotic. I just see a lot of my current and former friends nowadays that are so absorbed and “dumbed down” with it and I just think it’s changed people for the worst. Many people consider me disconnected from the world but I like it that way.
  15. I feel like visiting the national parks became exceptionally popular with the pandemic a couple years ago and social media. It’s great that people want to get out and see some of the amazing things we have out west…but the some of the parks aren’t built for millions of visitors a year like there is now. I also feel like part of the problem is the type of visitors that come to the parks because they saw some cool TikTok videos and want to see it. Theres always been stupid people…but a lot of the younger generation don’t respect wildlife or vegetation. They just want some cool pics to post to social media. The amount of disrespect and unawareness towards wildlife ive seen in Yellowstone and other places was insane. So overall I think that most parks should have a reservation system. I think it’s a good way to limit people going in, but also maybe weeding out some of the idiots that show up (hopefully).
  16. They have a reservation system now so hopefully that helps out with the overcrowding. I’m also hopeful the timed entry reservations help out at Mt.Rainier this year. Some people might not like it…but it definitely will help with so many people packing into parks. It’s necessary after the huge crowds of people that showed up at rainier last summer to check out the Perseids meteor shower. Tons of people trampled the fields. Straight up disrespectful to the park.
  17. We’re flying into Vegas and staying there for 2 nights. Then hitting all 5 national parks in southern Utah over the course of a week. Staying near Zion for 3 nights…then near Capitol reef national park for 1 night on the way to Moab for 3 nights. Then the Grand Canyon for 2 nights. I’ve heard that cedar breaks and goblin state parks are pretty cool. I’m excited to check out Moab also for a couple days. Have never been to Nevada, Utah or Arizona so I’m pretty excited for it.
  18. Lol I’m a little ways away from where the zebra got loose but I’ve been on the lookout up here at work the last few days.
  19. @SilverFallsAndrew I noticed a while back you had been to Utah and posted some pics. Were there any places outside of the national parks there that you thought were worth seeing? Will be in Utah for a week.
  20. Starting to get within long range guidance for my SW US trip may 9th-20th. I’m a little early for monsoon season down there but hoping for something interesting atleast.
  21. That band moving N—>S just finally passed through here. Was 100% snow for a bit at the end. Looks like we were just below the accumulation line here. Probably about 1200’. Itll probably be melted fast with some late April sunshine breaking through the clouds but still fun.
  22. There was a slushy trace of accumulation this morning up on tiger mountain 1300’. Has been doing a rain/snow mix the last few hours at 900’ in snoqualmie. Currently some big a** flakes mixing in with the rain. Definitely pretty late in the season for positive splat action.
  23. He’s literally been the biggest instigator recently. Everyday he’s causing problems even he knows it…whether he plays innocent or not.
  24. I usually like Jesse but recently it’s like he’s trying to get banned with the sh*t he’s saying. You didn’t get him banned a couple years back that was all his doing. Maybe it’s time he bans himself for awhile or someone does it for him.
