  1. While it's definitely not a good look and MAGA will beat their drums over it, it's worth noting that Haley did not spend a single dime or campaign for a single minute in Nevada while Trump actively campaigned for his supporters to do the 'None' option. Not surprised this is how it went given their unbreakable loyalty to the guy. He could tell them to jump off a bridge in order to show their support for him and they would fight each other over who gets to jump first. To me, these results continue to paint a bad picture for Trump. The fact 34% of Republican NV voters cast their ballots for two candidates that were nowhere to be seen in the state (let alone one that isn't even in the race) just in spite of Trump continues to show that he has major issues within his own party. For all the hubub that has been made about Democrats not wanting to nominate Biden, it's becoming increasingly evident there is an even larger share of Republicans that don't want to nominate Trump. It's kind of hard to win a general election when 30-50% of your own party are actively voting against you and say they won't vote for you in November.
  2. Donald would do well to understand we have a concept in this country called 'checks and balances'. A president who has full immunity would completely negate the judicial branch of our government from exerting it's duty to perform those checks and balances on the executive branch. It's not rocket science here. Turns out the founding fathers really didn't want to have a king and made sure they put in place some ways to ensure that didn't happen, however unfortunate that may be for Trump. Get the hell over it dude.
  3. Somehow this idiot thinks that presidents not having immunity will not allow them to function. What the hell has America been doing for the past 247 years? How did 44 presidents before him function? What a stupid argument.
  4. I saw this earlier and thought it was odd they would hire a college OC instead of a veteran to pair with a brand new HC but then I saw the Frazier hire as assistant HC and this route makes a little more sense. At least we can lean on Frazier's two decades of experience while we benefit from two fresh, dynamic coaches who both like to bring disguised and deceptive schemes paired with aggressive play-calling. Sounds refreshing. If nothing else, Macdonald/Grubb would be the exact opposite of what we've been lately. I think this next season or two are going to show just how stale and stagnant we became over the past few years. Carroll was great no doubt but he found himself continuously getting stuck in this 'we always play what defense we play and you just have to beat us' routine that just doesn't work against the offensive schemes of today's world. Add to that our own very predictable offense and it's a recipe for a mediocre team. I am excited to see how different a Macdonald/Grubb pairing would be able to make the team from that long-held blueprint, assuming it's true.
  5. Sooooooooo incredibly happy Schneider did not go that route. Unfortunately for the Commanders it kind of seems like they went, "Well we lost Johnson and Macdonald so I guess we are stuck with Quinn." Johnson did them very dirty and Macdonald slipped through their fingers at the last minute. What was once viewed as the most favorable HC opening ended up getting the last pick from the litter. Not a lot of happy Commanders fans on various forums and subreddits right now.
  6. Watched Macdonald's opening press conference. Definitely got a different vibe from him than Pete's happy-go-lucky, nothing-is-ever-wrong attitude which honestly is kind of welcomed. While Pete's style was seemingly embraced by the players, it got kind of old and stale as a fan, especially the past few years where we have been pretty average and middle of the pack. Very much looking forward to this new era of Seahawks football.
  7. Reported to be a six-year deal, so we are locking him down for the long haul. From the oldest coach in the NFL to the youngest. From robbing the grave to robbing the cradle. Seeing tons and tons of Hawks fans that are super stoked about this hire. Ravens defense under him allowed the fewest points per game (16.5) while also recording the most sacks (60) and takeaways (31). First time in NFL history that a defense has rated at the top in all three stats. His defense held the Chiefs to just 17 points, including 0 points in the entire second half. He's also proven to be quite effective against our NFC West opponents, notching wins against both the 49ers and Rams this year. NFL reporters are calling this a 'home run hire' for the Hawks.
  8. Looks like he's got the job. This is pretty exciting news.
  9. Mike MacDonald has flown into Seattle today for his second interview. With Ben Johnson off the table, MacDonald would be the next best thing. Lots of fans on the Seahawks subreddit are hoping and praying that they secure his deal today and announce him as our new HC.
  10. You keep trying to downplay the issue, which is fine I guess. Just to be clear, I never said it had to be the same God or that everyone must believe in Jesus. I never said it needed to be a monolithic religion that everyone in the world must prescribe to. I said there is a basis of faith that is missing in today's world, especially in our country, where it leads to a void of connectivity, of coming together knowing there are a set of commonly shared principles among your neighbors. The vast majority of religions teach similar things: love, community, morality, common good, etc. There might be different flavors of how to go about preaching those things but when you boil it all down those are normally the pillars of many faiths. In my opinion, the restoration and more wide acceptance of those beliefs would go a long way in fixing the vast divisions that have arose in our society. Yes, I am touching upon a much larger issue at play but it's one that coincides with the NBC cutting of Jesus from that interview. Until we can change how Jesus/religion/faith is perceived in today's world, what I discussed above will never come to fruition. And again, NBC would be just fine keeping any mention of LGBTQ+ or black equality or whatever else they deem popular and "cool" in today's culture but don't want to keep a mention of Jesus because gasps it could be controversial and trigger some people. Two separate issues there that together form a nasty habit of media outlets deciding what is good and what is bad for people to digest.
  11. While I agree that many media outlets love to pit one group against another and stoke culture wars because it means good ratings, I don't agree with you conflating that with this situation. I'm not talking about ginning up controversy. I am talking about a media outlet blatantly being anti-religious all the while they continuously pander to what they deem to be the "just" or "righteous" cause, such as LGBTQ+ or black equality or whatever else is the rah-rah issue of the day. Without getting too preachy, I think this country (let alone the world) would be much better off if believing in God wasn't so actively shunned into the corner. If there was a basis of faith, of morality, of community and love and common good and all that religions generally help promote perhaps we wouldn't have so many of the issues that we currently have, especially when it comes to the 'at eachothers throats' aspect that you and roadtonowhere are touching on. Perhaps if media outlets didn't actively try and silence religious praises that matter would get ever so slightly better. But no, instead religion and Jesus will continue to remain on the back-burner and considered a stain in the current zeitgeist. Let's see where that continues to get us.
  12. Six days ago marked the last day of our bottomed-out average max high temp of 27. Starting 1/25 our average high bumped up to 28 and continues it's march to an average of 37 degrees by the end of February. Today we topped out at 47 which is good for a +19 departure. Our average departure through the first 20 days of the month was -6.57 but now we have jumped up to only -1.6. It's going to be cutting it very close to keeping this month below normal overall. Sucks to have such a large negative departure completely wiped out over the past 10 days but, c'est la vie.
  13. Iran-backed Hezbollah militia based in Iraq just came out and called for a suspension of all attacks on US troops in the region. They say this is due to them not wanting the Iraqi government to be 'embarrassed'. Sounds like they might not have been expecting their attack to be as effective as it was and are now running for cover with their tail tucked between their legs. I think Biden's policies have been incredibly weak-kneed in the Middle East but we might still be able to avoid an all-out war with Iran. https://www.reuters.com/world/middle-east/iraqs-kataib-hezbollah-suspends-military-operations-us-forces-statement-2024-01-30/
  14. Not that it's too important but I don't understand why you censor names in these posts. They are posting with their name on a MSN article that gets way more views than this thread on a weather forum gets. Pretty sure they are fine with their names being out there. It doesn't make sense.
  15. First off, of course they couldn't cut it out of the national broadcast. It was a live interview. Kind of hard to do editing on the fly when it's a live national broadcast. I'm genuinely curious why you think they would cut that out. I can't come up with any excuse other than it doesn't fit their agenda. And spare me the 'well they had to shorten the clip for social media' BS. What a load of crap. It was like a 5 second portion of the interview. Let me put it to you this way: If he had started his interview with, "I'd just like to take a moment and thank all the LGBTQ+ folks out there who inspire me" do you think that NBC would have cut that in their social media post? I can guarantee you without a shadow of a doubt they wouldn't have cut it. So, why cut out a mention of Jesus? Is it because being Christian and believing in God isn't the 'popular' thing to do in today's world? Is it because it would have triggered some Gen Z/Gen X/whatever people? Is it because NBC doesn't want to promote God? This isn't a manufactured culture war. This is blatant media bias and pushing of specific narratives on display for everyone to see. Claiming it's something only Fox News cares about is such a freaking cop out dude. Lots of people care about and like to see shout-outs to Jesus Christ. Not just Fox News viewers. What an intellectually dishonest argument you made.
  16. 40s and maybe even a couple 50s for the first week of February. I'm keeping an eye on post-8th as the ensembles are starting to show some chances of snow returning after that time. CPC is picking up on the chances too.
  17. Kamala must be giving Karine some tips on how best to mix up a word salad. This administration is incompetent from top to bottom. How embarrassing.
  18. No matter where you fall on the religious spectrum, I would hope we could all agree that this is a nasty display of media bias and agenda. Completely cutting out a player's comments about Jesus to make it seem like he never even said it is just flat wrong.
  19. The fog finally lifted after 4+ days and we enjoyed bright blue sunny skies with a high of 43. Family went out for a nice walk along the river where we saw some animal tracks. Kids had fun trying to decipher what kind of animal it was. Just a beautiful day here!
  20. Is it? Disney became a woke company. DeSantis took it up on himself to "wage war on the woke" and set his sights on Disney, among other things, thinking it would score him points with the base. In theory, it sounds ok if your sole focus is to "fight the woke mob". But it's certainly not conservative for government to overreach into private businesses like that. Pretty simple.
  21. Now there is something we can agree on!
  22. Except... He's not. He's blocking the bipartisan border deal in the Senate because he'd rather use it as a political tool against Biden in the election.
