  1. The turn around didn't take very long the last time, only two weeks!
  2. My top 5 events of my lifetime would be... #5 December 1990 (about 14" of snow, single digit temps, snow Christmas morning) #4 November 1985 (about 12" of snow, Lake Goodwin froze over) #3 December 1996 (about 24" of snow, insane snowfall rates in a short period) #2 November 2006 (about 17" of heavy wet snow that caused major tree damage, no power for 4 days) #1 December 2008 (about 36" of snow, the duration that the event lasted, and heavy snow Christmas morning) For January's I would say 1996 would be my favorite. About a foot of snow and very cold temps.
  3. I saved the all the SWS during the Dec 2008 event, this was the first official one...oh the memories! Though if I remember correctly didn't we start tracking the first signs of the big change around the last week of November? 4. November 2006, when I took this picture I think we were on day 2 of no power and highs in the low 20's
  5. Thanks! Here are a few more from Dec 2008
  6. And Dec 2013, pretty much the only snow of last winter.
  7. I can't help but to go through my pics of snow and cold when the first threat of winter starts approaching. Feel free to post winters pics here. Dec 2008...that is my old VW Jetta under a lot of snow! Pic taken on Christmas morning, what a gift all that snow was!
  8. Thankfully its the GFS. Go Euro!! I am done with this gunky, wet, dark crap, Im sure everyone effected by the slide would agree as well.
  9. The last thing all the rescue workers need right now is rain up in Oso. Wish today's weather would hold for a month straight! Anyone heard from WinterDog? I know he lives on the east side of I-5 in Arlington (Arlington addressees span a big area) hoping he was clear of the slide.
  10. We heard the rumble of the slide this morning in our house even though we are quite a distance from Oso. My wife came into the kitchen were i was wondering what I was doing. It had that rumble sound just like the beginning of a earthquake so I thought for sure the shaking was about to happen. Hopefully everyone is heeding the warning to stay clear of the river.
  11. Clear frosty 28 degree early morning. Now unfortunately it's cloudy and 38.
  12. What an ugly day. Been raining since last evening and it is currently 44 degrees. I really enjoyed the sun and nearly 60 degrees that we had last week, this weather just plain sucks.
  13. We had a rain shower about 1hr ago, otherwise it has been mostly dry here!
  14. The forum is kind of dead, must be spring! I am kind of hoping for El Niño since it seems like we can't get much in the way of snow around puget sound with La Niña or Neutral conditions anymore. But I do have fond memories of Nov 2006 and Jan of 2007.
  15. Been a pretty dry day in my area. We did have a few hours of light to moderate rain this evening but have since dried out again. Currently 52 degrees. Still only 41 in Lynden!
  16. Still only around 40 up at Lynden, meanwhile it was 60 in Everett while driving back up from Kirkland a bit ago. 56 at my house. The cold air is so close, yet so far away.
  17. We really need to get that arctic air a "Good To Go Pass" Apparently the good stuff is not allowed to cross the border looking at that map We need a deep low to pass straight into the Oregon/Wa border to draw that good air down!
  18. Does the 00z show the arctic blast as well?
  19. Moderate to heavy shower overhead right now, but have not seen any lightning yet as I look out my window towards the cascades.
  20. What is the latest time frame in March where we have had a region wide true arctic blast? Snow & cold that lasted more than a day or two.
  21. When I checked the pass report for Snoqualmie at 6AM the temp was at 33 degrees, now 3hrs later its at 23! Pass is closed probably for a while for snow and trees on roadway. Glad I am not traveling over the pass this week. Easterly winds must have kicked back in to drop the temp that much?
  22. That timeframe has always been difficult for me, seems like we go through phases up here with two or three lousy springs followed by one or two nice springs. But the spring of 2010, 2011, & 2012 were all just terrible and the last one sealed the deal. Three in a row tipped me over the edge! Does seem like springs have been slowly getting worse and worse with the exception of last year.
