  1. Yeah the forecast looks like it is going to bust here one again, I am afraid… what’s new around here. Hopefully this switches over soon as our grass is barely covered.
  2. That’s amazing and congrats man, I have a feeling this storm is going to deliver a lot of surprises today!
  3. Thinking we should get in on the blizzard warning action later today if the forecasts of 40-50 MPH wind gusts tonight and tomorrow actually pan out.
  4. It’s beautiful to see forecasts like this, as it’s been way too long since both Nebraska and Iowa have scored a powerhouse winter storm like this… enjoy my friend as Omaha and Des Moines look to both do very well today and tonight. Bring on the thunder snow… looks like it could very well happen for both of us too.
  5. There’s definitely that feel in the air here too… haven’t had this feeling of a big storm coming in like this in several years.
  6. Lock this in please, approaching double digits in Omaha and Lincoln. If the precip stays all snow here, I could definitely see this happening.
  7. Really liking the trends here for East-Central Nebraska. Still looks to be the usual questions with thermals, convection to the south that could eat into the totals, etc… however dry air doesn’t look to be one of them. Would be nice to score a big one here as it’s been almost 3 years now… either way I am excited to watch this play out and see what this pattern will deliver, LET’S FREAKING GO!
  8. Another beautiful snow hole over Omaha… lock it in as this has been the pattern 3 winters in a row now here LOL.
  9. I will take it though… especially considering how much we were riding the line with this system here in Eastern NE. The last three years we seemingly have ended up in the screw zone with these bigger storm systems, so I will gladly take the 1.50” of desperately needed rainfall and 3+ inches of snow that this one delivered (maybe another inch or two of snow to add on today as well).
  10. So glad you cashed in on this system, honestly things didn’t look so good a few hours ago however it’s looking great for you all in Central Nebraska. Hopefully we can score a bit more tomorrow here in Eastern Nebraska, however I am pretty happy with what we got today for Christmas today… either way it will be one to remember around here!
  11. Ended up with 3” of snow today… I am VERY happy with what we got here, especially since Omaha was one of the few “more heavily populated” areas in the US to score a White Christmas. Plus we were riding the line here with some areas 25-30 miles to the east of me not getting any snow at all. Congrats to @CentralNebWeather and @gabel23 for scoring a decent snow storm out of this one! This was a nice win and a bit of a Christmas Miracle for most Nebraskans “snow-wise.”
  12. It’s beautiful outside this morning! A Christmas Miracle courtesy of Mother Nature. Unfortunately it won’t last long here as the dry slot is already approaching… however seeing the ground covered in white on Christmas morning is extra special.
  13. Finally changed over to snow/ sleet here about an hour ago… and the ground is starting to get covered with some white gold. The kids are going to be extra excited when they get up as they wanted a White Christmas and it looks like they will get one this year! Merry Christmas everyone!
  14. Now over an inch of rainfall today in my backyard… temperature is dropping a little more quickly than expected, now down to 38 (from a high of 55 at 12:30). Models seem to be trending better here in my area, it’s now looking like we could see up to 5-6 inches of snow per the NAM (Western Sarpy county). Crazy to see the model spitting out 6” along the Platte River/ western county line and only 2” along the Missouri River/ eastern county line… preparing to either be surprised or disappointed.
  15. Enjoy the services and the music today, above all else I am glad most of us are getting appreciable rainfall/ moisture this weekend. At this point any snow or ice we get tonight and tomorrow will be a bonus (maybe we get lucky and get something decent too).
  16. I feel there will be some surprises upcoming from this system out to the west… we are riding the edge here in East Central Nebraska once again so I kind of have a bad feeling how it will work out. Thankful for the 0.45” of rain that fell this morning, it was nice to be woken up by some loud claps of thunder. Even woke up the kids… haha! Merry Christmas Eve to everyone!
  17. Except for far Eastern Nebraska… once again this is not a surprise. Need a Christmas miracle at this point in Omaha.
  18. Gabel, my thoughts exactly… dense fog seems to correlate with winter storms arriving 48 to 72 hours later. Fingers crossed that this idea stays true… not counting on anything until the snow is actually flying.
  19. Good lord, Eastern Nebraska is riding the edge as always… looks like this could be another situation where the east side of a county could get very little while the west side gets dumped on… at least it’s nice that the models are coming out with similar solutions now. Expect the unexpected with this system!
  20. Congrats on the moisture OttumwaSnomow, hopefully the next system delivers for us both… even it’s just plain rain.
  21. We have been socked in with very dense fog all morning here in Omaha. At 4:00am there was near zero visibility in my area… usually dense fog in December seems to be a precursor to either big ice storms or snow storms around here. At the very least it means we shouldn’t have any issue getting decent rain and frozen precip these next few days. I am going into this expecting just a bit of snow/ice, as I refuse to get too excited again for a winter storm around here (been burned too many times the last 2+ years).
  22. Not for Omaha… would need a 30-40 mile nudge east. However I can see the above actually playing out, would follow climatology for the last three years with dry air and bad thermals winning out. No matter what happens on the cold side of the storm, looking forward to some decent rainfall starting later tonight… 1-2 inches of moisture would be great to see here.
  23. This pattern epically sucks, however being able to grill out and maybe have a fire pit going outside on Christmas evening does sound nice. Would gladly trade it for a lousy inch of snow on Christmas Eve… even though it looks like that’s going to be asking way too much.
  24. Winter fail… now it is looking like three years in a row here in Eastern Nebraska that Winter will provide very little snow or even ice/ rainfall. It’s no longer my favorite season of the year… bring on Spring already.
  25. What a complete dog s%#* pattern for anyone north of KC… missed to the north by rain/ snow most of last winter, now it’s south this year.
