  1. After yesterdays balmy 55F, I think I am ready for Spring by early March. Felt soooo nice being outside. More record highs possible next week w/ the potential for 60s approaching my area for a day or maybe 2, along w/ another potent rainstorm and winds as well. Any cold air is very brief, followed by a substantial warm-up. No snow or arctic air anytime soon for S MI.
  2. A nice soaker on the way. Winds could also be problematic w/ gusts to as high as 50MPH+ by the pm hr tomorrow. If this were to be snow, would have been a 6-10inch snowfall. It stays AN throughout the extended stretch and maybe getting to near normal at some point. No arctic air in sight for now.
  3. Yes, it will be very mild in the coming days. My temps could very well hit that 60F mark, if not, then, very close.. It does cool off in the latter part of the month, but nothing too drastic. Probably back to near normal.
  4. Still have this nice glacier, snowcover. I have had true winter condition's here over the last week or 2, but this will be washed away next week. Its too bad this cant keep going. It has to warm up and spoil the beautiful scenery outside. Everything is iced up and snowcover everywhere. Oh well, let the bare ground return once again. Temps next week could reach near 50F w plenty of rain chances. By next weekend, we cool back down again w/ temps in the 30s and lows in the 20s. Time is running out here and we are approaching a little over a month left of winter and that's it. Lets see how the rest of this winter evolves.
  5. I saw vid's of cars crashing on Hwy's in parts of TX and I sadly, some lives were taken as well. Very rough down there. Hopefully, things get better for you guys in the south and other parts there as well. This is one terrifying icestorm. Stay safe y'all.
  6. True winter days here in S MI w/ a nice snowcover otg and very cold temps. Hopefully some more snowstorms down the road, although, not looking too promising this week. Still, plenty of ol' man winter left.
  7. New York City measures 1st snowfall of the season The Big Apple measured its first snowfall since March 9, 2022, Wednesday morning, ending the second-longest snowless streak the city has ever endured. At Central Park in Manhattan, where the city's official weather station resides, 0.4 of an inch of snow was measured at 5:30 a.m. EST, the National Weather Service (NWS) confirmed. "The snow that fell in New York City on Wednesday morning was due to just enough moisture in combination with a cold air mass to produce a light snowfall." Hallelujah!!!!!
  8. Bitter cold tanite as readings here in Macomb could flirt w/ zero (actual temp that is) and later in the week , even colder air arrives. Temps by then (Firiday nite) could drop in the -10's. BRRRRRRRR!!!! Also, I have my eyes on the storm for the 8-10Th as it looks to be very interesting.
  9. Today Detroit received 0.5" of snow and I think this is where we were last year at this time snowfallwise. We also ended up w/ 47.1" for the year.
  10. @ClintonHow is your snow dept so far this winter? Been wanted to ask ya, but kept forgetting.
  11. @Ferndale_man@jaster220radar looks very good w/ moderate snow now over the area. I am approaching 0.5" or slightly more.
  12. Looks to be a brutal start to this workweek, but, its brief. A dramatic boost in temps by the weekend, which means, in my area, back to above normal temps, or maybe slightly above. The storm on the 7th and 8th looks to be mix as for now. Hopefully, it will be ll snow. We will see how that turns out.
  13. Its beautiful outside w/ light nsow falling on top of old snow. What a great refresher. Temps are in the low 20s, so, everything is sticking..
  14. Today NYC ties the longest wait for winters first snowfall. Last time this happened was back in 1972-73, when 1.8" finally coated Central Park. February is their snowiest month there, so we will see what happens. March is also a stormy month in NYC when some of their biggest snowstorms have occurred. I.e., I remember February, 2006, the city received its all time biggest snowstorm. I was having cappuccino in downtown (village area w/ friends)..and I remember I couldn't even find a taxi to go back to my apartment up by upper west side which is literally a 10-maybe 15 minute ride. 26.9 inches February 12, 2006 The North American Blizzard of 2006 hit East Coast cities from Baltimore to Boston with enough winter weather to cancel school for days, but few places got more than the Big Apple. A full 26.9 inches dumped on NYC, the highest snowfall ever counted by government records. Btw: great tip to know: if you are brave enough to drive in Manhattan, try to make all green lights, because if you do, you will be at your destination fast. If one light catches you, then, you're doomed.
  15. My forecast is now calling for 3-6" or more starting late PM and ending early Sunday afternoon. This from my local forecaster just in. He added the possibility of possibly getting more than 6". Roughly from M-59 North. I guess he is seeing the south trend and going also w/ the American models.
  16. It is looking like a dry, frigid next week, but weather changes everyday, so ya never know down the road. But yes, it will be a glacier out there.
  17. It will be fun to watch where this boundary sets up. Dont trust everything you see so far. This thing might take more south trends and it already has been doing that. Even the NAM has been trying to do catch up. Stay Tuned!!
  18. I like the way the radar looks. I think its time to just look at radars for this. @Tomthis snow is making a B-Line at yr pl. Looks moderate to even heavy. Look out @westMJimand @Stacsh.
  19. Keeps it all snow here in Macomb and moderate as well.
  20. FWIW: They were spot on w/ the last storm calling for 4-8"...... WinterCast Saturday Evening - Sunday Morning 3 - 6 inches Snow Now...I'll take this and run....but, in any case, it is a very complicated scenario..I'd wait until today's cycle at 4pm for the latest. It can go from nothing to a WWA, or to WSW.
  21. Lets see if this can come more north next week.
  22. Here are 2 pics from today after yesterday's major snowstorm:
  23. Just finished using my snowblower and shovel. Some neighbors out there as well. Very decent snowstorm. Temps are now below freezing and falling into the 20s tanite. Tomorrow I will post pics of the scenery. The trees are absolutely gorgeous as @jaster220mentioned. January has arrived!!! Better late than never I suppose.
