  1. My digital gauge reads .15". It's my biggest rain event since Sept. 10th......when I received 1.63". Just crazy how long it's been since I have experienced anything more than a half an inch.
  2. Yep, just horrible luck and it continues @CentralNebWeather. Congrats to everyone getting the much needed precip.
  3. This can’t be right it was darn near 80 today and we don’t get precip in Nebraska…..
  4. Oct. ended up being one of the driest months for a lot of us. My county was the driest though......
  5. This is starting to look like another swing and miss for Nebraska. Storms get firing too late as the cold front pushes through too fast. Forecast went from 2-3" possible with the passage to maybe a .25" to possibly nothing. Not a good start to the LRC for my area. Still haven't seen precip going on 3 months.
  6. Glad you guys liked it! Sorry @jaster220 I forgot to submit the winter outlook! I must say he has some pretty awesome insights with weather and is very knowledgable.
  7. My neighbor has a giant oak tree; it seems like they take forever to drop all their leaves! My garden is in my back yard and I have a maple tree right next to it. It's nice that all the leaves fall right on the garden for my compost! I still have a couple rows of potatoes to finish digging before I till for the last time.
  8. Found this guy on Twitter and I must say he has some good insights with long range! Thought I would share. He was a former meteorologist who created his own YouTube channel.
  9. Incredible day today. Dust storms, fires, possible tornado close to norfolk, and now a cold front that might bring a shower. It was an interesting drive home from kc today.
  10. I seen that, Gary retweeted about it. Just crazy for all of us. Here is the smoke plume from south central Nebraska.
  11. Parts of south east Lincoln being evacuated. Just horrible. Here is a video of that grass fire.
  12. Was driving back from Kansas City today, took the family to great wolf lodge this weekend. The wind was horrendous, and there was blowing dust as we got north of Saint Jo. It only got worse from there, it’s horrible out there. We need precip in the worst way or we might be on our way to one of the worst droughts in a while….
  13. 85-86 was a dreadful winter for us, at least at Columbus and Lincoln reporting areas. Well below snowfall and lots of temp swings. Columbus didn't record a single inch of snow in the month of Jan which is very hard to do.
  14. Insanely dry! We we from 20 to 67 today. Dry skin is taking its toll….
  15. Haven’t seen rain in close to 2 months. Lord help us please; good to see a major storm setting up in the central parts of the US but man could I use just a bit of this precip.
  16. Gary mentioned this morning in his blog that changes are under way next week! Beginning of the new LRC; god I hope it's a wet one for the Great Plains b/c we all need precip.
  17. Just hard to do now that we’re entering the winter months. Obviously we’re gonna receive less liquid precip this time of the year. We need some sort of moisture this fall that’s for sure.
  18. Well I guess the farmers almanac for the win of course! https://www.yahoo.com/news/farmers-almanac-declares-north-central-110026276.html
  19. Heard some decent thunder but the storms stayed to my north. Officially .02" in my rain gauge.
  20. Winter outlook also came out today. Looks pretty much like your typical La Nina year.
  21. The GFS is notorious for being too high with temps and not taking into account the moisture. Pivots are running like crazy and the moisture in the air is high. I don't doubt will see 100 at some point in time during this heat wave. I just pray we get relief sooner than later!
  22. I was a junior in high school and remember that winter like it was yesterday. We had bitter cold arctic air and two blizzards with temps in the single digits. It was amazing. I had to keep my truck plugged in at night so it would start in the morning! The first of three storms hit early like Dec. 8th and we went week after week with snowstorms up until the arctic air lifted around x-mas.
  23. Potatoes and tomatoes are doing great! Little concerned for the cucumbers I'm hoping they come around. They are up and growing just looks like they have a little blight! Thanks for asking!
  24. Got lucky last night; I was getting missed to the north and to the south. Thankfully the line of storms kept back building and the lightning was insane! I was outside watching and a bolt struck not far from my house. I looked at my radar and it showed up 2 minutes after it hit! Picked up 2" of rain and my month of June total is up over 5! Been lucky as heck too as the hail missed me!
