  1. Cherry tree blossom update from Shawnigan lake.......still dormant but getting closer.
  2. NWS is forecasting 1/2 -1" for Missoula. Were you expecting them to bust badly?
  3. They seem pretty quick to cancel after that one boat couldn't dock last year and spent the night circling and waiting for the wind to relax. It's really only docking in the wind that's an issue. Otherwise, those boats can handle pretty much any windstorm around here.
  4. BC ferries from Victoria to Vancouver are shut down for now. Just breezy here in Victoria so far, must be stronger on the Strait and the Tsawwassen side. Docking is problematic there in the wind.
  5. One 7" day on record? For April or any month? Either way, hope it works out for you.
  6. Is that really a once in 50 year storm. Similar looking snow storms in April and May are very common occurrence in SW Alberta and the Canadian Rocky mtn foothills. I always assumed they extended south of the border as well.
  7. April 2, 2010 was a big one up here. 60+ mph gusts destroyed a local marina.
  8. http://www.cbc.ca/beta/news/canada/british-columbia/gloomiest-vancouver-least-sunshine-1.4057649
  9. I'll be working in Victoria on Friday. That trajectory looks like a windy, hopefully mostly rain shadowed day.
  10. It's pouring here. Close to 1/3" this evening. Current rain rate 0.2"/hr.
  11. There have been a few brave water skiers out on the lake the past couple of days. Some people just can't wait for summer I guess. There was still some ice on the lake just about 3 weeks ago.
  12. I was thinking that's possible. 850's are only around -3 or -4C up here but it's already down to 40F.
  13. Reading through this and related linked articles, I was somewhat surprised to see forecasts calling for another hot summer in the west. http://komonews.com/weather/scotts-weather-blog/enjoying-the-wet-february-some-signs-pointing-to-a-wetter-spring-too
  14. Fuel up before you hit the border. Gas hit $1.32/litre. What is that ...$5.00/ gallon.
  15. Interesting to see that Shawnigan Lake has actually been drier both in March and Feb/March this year than it was in 2016. Last year the faucet turned off in mid March, however the first half was exceptionally wet.
