I’m growing increasingly interested in English football. I feel like that’s where the roots of the sport are and it feels more intense than the bush league MLS.
I just wish they played in the snow like gridiron football. One day I hope they play the Super Bowl in Chicago and the ballgame experiences a period of widespread blowing snow and temperatures at about 17°.
Yes... you have mentioned that before. You must see Super Bowl mania everywhere you right now. We were out and about today and Seahawks gear was everywhere. Seemed like almost everyone was in Seahawks colors. We talked to this cute elderly Asian couple in line at Costco who could barely speak English and they were all decked out in Seahawks. Made me smile and they were so excited for tomorrow. We had an instant bond with them just based on team colors we were all wearing.
That is the cultural aspect of sports... it's brings people together with a common shared experience. It's universal across the globe... with different sports of course. Soccer being the most widespread with the most fanatic following. Countries in Europe and South America basically shut down during the World Cup games.
