I actually got 8.87” that month, although 4.2” of that fell in a single thunderstorm on 7/14.
Lots of stationary pop-up thunderstorms that month which flared and gusted out just as quickly. The atmosphere just wasn’t moving at all. So localized variability in precip totals was much higher than normal, I think DCA was in a precip hole of sorts.
Water activities!
I am following some Youtubers living the boat life in coastal Maryland and it looks so awesome there in the summer. They sure seem to love it.
Yeah well our day to day variability in the summer is even less than yours in the winter.
Like 90% of days have highs between 85-95°F and lows are even tighter between 70-75°F or even warmer recently.
Last July. Went almost the entire month without an airmass change of any kind. Look how tiny the departures are.
SO FUN.
