The long range indicates proper summer will end with a whimper. Still no telling if it will come back in early-mid Fall, though. I think we're due for a November 70 burger
The six month rule works really well here. Between February 21st and 28th, our shot at a top tier lowland snow and cold event drops off, spring becomes a bit more evident on a bright and sunny, and nautical twilight lingers past 7pm. Six months later, triple digits fall off of the forecasting outliers, the sunlight has a noticeably warmer shade with evening light stretching into 5pm.
My .02 in predicting snowfall from an El Nino or SEN-- is don't even try.
65-66 in DSM is the least snowiest on record.
2009-10 was 3rd all time snowiest and only 3" shy of the all time record.
Warmth in the N PLains is about all I would bet on.
