  1. I tend to agree with that. We’ll have a beautiful week in the high 60’s. Thursday may bring a shower. A great spring so far.
  2. Could be a hell-of-a show! https://www.npr.org/2024/03/17/1239056873/devil-comet-solar-eclipse-12p-pons-brooks
  3. I know plenty that are for it.
  4. Congressional Bailout. Record number of members not returning. Can you blame them? https://pressgallery.house.gov/member-data/casualty-list
  5. https://www.astronomy.media/2024/02/03/betelgeuse-before-during-and-after-the-great-dimming/ When a prominent star in the night sky suddenly dims, it generates a lot of interest. That’s what happened with the red supergiant star Betelgeuse between November 2019 and May 2020. Betelgeuse will eventually explode as a supernova. Was the dimming a signal that the explosion was imminent? No, and new research helps explain why. (IDK about you, but a 2nd sun in the sky would be interesting)
  6. States should have their own rights regarding porn and the like. Communities are allowed to be individual. People can determine where they want to live and raise their families or run their businesses. No problemo. Having grown up on the edge of the Fort Worth Stock Yards where it was rough and ready, I can testify to not raising your kids around porn and such. All I had were real cowboys, cattlemen, and the bars and dancehalls. Some places were far worse. Fort Worth kept it to a minimum. Call girls and drugs were mostly on the other side of town. We got the drunks and dancehalls. The call girls were there but not as numerous ( or seen) and further west of us. Fort Worth WAS a cowtown after all. Cowboys will be cowboys. MAN! I had quite the childhood.
  7. I hope we aren’t headed for drought. It gets old real fast. Thoughts? We just had a nice thunderstorm. I’ll check the rain gauge later. Really great to hear thunder and get rain !
  8. Local Met is giving North Texas a 70% chance of rain. Overcast this morning 58.* High today 68* Do we need rain, or what?
  9. I’m very sorry for your loss. That’s most important here. Taking advantage of tragedies for talking points is tasteless, always has been. It seems to be an unpleasant symptom of political ambition. We were lucky. It wasn’t election time and slipped away from political leeches. If the family agrees to go public it’s different, but most families are so devastated they just want to be left alone. We avoided that added weight.
  10. We should have some very noisy thunderstorms beginning between -1-2 am through about 4-5. Alarm goes off at 5:15. Oh well.
  11. Good points. I recall during the Vietnam War that certain things that could go into repaid if tanks or planes were stopped while the US didn’t stop all food items because of civilians. China was supplying enough as it was to the Red Army. Talk about a crazy war. Pres Johnson was Pres Looneytoons, not to mention his “advisors”. I recall him telling them, “ I’ll give you your g-d war.” What a piece of work. The Joint Chiefs loved him. Talk about a crazy war! Not to mention Air America. Just nuts.
  12. https://www.wnd.com/2024/03/biden-greenlights-another-10-billion-iran-report-says/ Why? Why empower people that hate you?
  13. We’re under severe weather watch. Spring is officially here. 68* Overcast.
  14. Presidents past and Present have always drawn attention to the innocents of tragedies, be they 1 person or hundreds. If they do nothing they’re callous. It’s a no win situation. I was in a prominent leadership position in a company. I was always on half of the employees bad side. You could bank on that.

  16. My cousin was Not a statistic, or data, to his parents, brothers, and extended family. I hope you never have to live with the impact of this. Ultimately, it shortened his mother’s life and ruined his father’s life. It’s hell for families in this position. Absolute hell.
  17. I’m curious as to opinions of who will run for President on the Republican side once Trumps out of the picture? DeSantis is a given, but who else?
  18. Say that when you’ve stood over a cousin in his grave as I did, dead through illegals committing crimes on both sides off the border. Go ahead and talk how smart you are on the reality of it all. Statistics be damned at that point, despite the fact I’m married to a Hispanic family. You folks aren’t steeped in the reality of it all everyday. They're quite critical of this whole situation. But don’t mind those living with it. Go on.
  19. It does to some degree but Dang! I’m sick of it!
  20. All these Jack Booted Thug comparisons is just downright ridiculous. I’m absolutely sick of all the extremist comparisons on both sides. It demonstrates a level of immaturity and/or simple antagonistic stupidity that is a large part of the national dialogue and our problem. People in general need to settle the ‘Fock’’ down and moderate both their speech and the attitudes toward one another. The national dialogue needs to “do unto others” a great deal more, frankly. I don’t believe some of the opinions expressed on this board but I do respect another’s right to think as they do. Culture, age, maturity (or lack thereof), or simple experience colors a persons opinions. 20-30 years from now some of you will think VERY differently. Ease up on the peddle, and the extreme comparisons. You might find common ground while still differing in opinion. Besides, most politicians are egotistical, opinionated, a$$holes (both parties), many corrupt and paid off by lobbyists. Let's face it. Those of us on this board have more in common than difference.
  21. John Kelly is no peach. Anyone not a hard nosed military man is so much poo under his shoe. I don’t recall one remotely pleasant comment uttered from his ugly mouth. So his opinion is caustic at best of any politician. The military and politicians are gasoline and matches.
  22. It IS happening. They're burning piles of bodies in the streets.
  23. The sun sent out a sizable flare this week. I guess it’s getting all excited about our upcoming total eclipse https://earthsky.org/sun/sun-news-activity-solar-flare-cme-aurora-updates/
  24. Not surprising. Many countries that have swung left find the social programs draining their coffers pretty fast. Too many in need and not enough payers. Portugal has a high number of retirees I understand from other nations. Gathering taxes to fund public coffers may be difficult. However, Portugal and Spain are beautiful, great people and food.
  25. Hoping for clear viewing. I’ve read 250,000-300,000 viewers are on their way to parts of Texas. I’ll be in my back yard. I’m in the total zone.
