Likewise. Easily the most “comfortable” start to summer I can remember in my lifetime. What’s strange is almost all “cool” patterns here in JJA are fairly wet/stormy, but this year it’s historically dry.
In fact I had to go back to the 19th/early 20th century to find conditions similar to this. Love this resource from NCDC, has observations back to the 1870s at some stations.
All 50 states are included.
Last time I remember such a mild start to summer was 2003 (maybe 2005 depending on who you ask). But in both years, we in Southern California saw increased convective events and monsoons later in the summer. Not sure how it played out for all you folks up north.

We are not looking forward to that inland. That means ripe fire conditions.

Sun never showed here inland today, it stayed completely cloudy all day and quite dark. Drizzled a few times but was not measurable. Days like today I mark "Trace" for precipitation in my records.
I expect Marine Layer to be happy about the increased activity here during this weather.

Much cloudier today. Amazingly mild past few weeks, most recent years we saw record heat going into June.

It's possible the morning could be the brightest time of the day again as the sun builds up those stratocumulus clouds during the day.
It was so dark at 11 am yesterday it looked like a nuclear winter.
11 AM yesterday just looked like a standard winter day, or like any regular day in London...

First day of meteorological winter for the California coast.
Even during the winter, you guys on the coast will still dip into the 40s, which definitely is not possible at this time of year.

Also June 2009 was extremely troughy with even Palm Springs threatening to break the all-time record for coldest average high in June. A heat wave the last few days of the month ended those chances, but it was still 2nd place, I think.
Of course the marine layer went insane that June too, but ocean temperatures were above average and the troughs were so strong they weakened the inversion enough for reverse clearing most days.
We had thunderstorms that month, one of the only times we had measurable precipitation in June.

Flew into the marine layer yesterday afternoon just before landing. San Gabriel Mountains were poking above and were still very much snow-capped. Encountered some drizzle around Yorba Linda coming home.

Also agree 100%. I still say Biden has it, but it's a possibility. The dark part of me wants him to have another 4 years. It's gotta get worse before we demand better.
This defeatist mentality, I believe, is harmful to the cause of most Americans. Corrupt career politicians like Joe Biden are enabled by simply knowing that a fair share of Americans will vote for the establishment no matter what the situation, which allows for the continued corrupt bi-partisan establishment to remain in power basically indefinitely. Amercians criticize countries like Russia, China, Iran, etc. ("why don't the people overthrow their oppressive governments?") - look at us.
1 hour ago, Iceresistance said:There are too many characteristics that set this apart: Ex-Military, Affiliation with a domestic terrorist/supremacy, and enough ammo to wipe out hundreds.
This is common, sadly. I met people who appeared to be prone to this during my time in the Army as well, and not long ago. Trump was president but I saw all sorts.
12 minutes ago, Andie said:And what does that say for the growth and benefit of Americans? Not much. It’s unnerving if he said revenge.
The Presidency and it’s incredible powers aren’t meant for that.
Surely a sensible Republican will step up."Sensible Republican" is as much an oxymoron as "sensible Democrat" is. Start with the establishment itself, which is bi-partisan.

What about your rainfall totals if it rains when you're gone?
My weather station is automatic; it will run continuously while I am away and precipitation will be recorded and logged just like temperature and other details. Only thing is I won't be able to verify precipitation via manual rain gauge.

Greta should come to not so sunny Southern California to enjoy the May Gray and write essays on how it's an absolute proof of climate change as is any anomalous weather.
Celebrities in California who live near the ocean better pack up and move inland soon.
You'd get to move to my side of the Santa Ana Mountains. I know you'll love the hotter and far-less gloomy weather here (but you'd also have to get used to calling it Santiago Peak instead of Saddleback).
