I really feel sorry for some of my ski/snowboard friends. They still keep thinking there's any winter left. One was all excited for the 4-6 inches we were going to get Thursday/Friday from this system. I don't know what they're thinking, the rain system, even if we get an amazing snow storm in the second wave, would leave a ski hill as a sheet of ice with some loose stuff on top. This is gonna be one of those springs where the torch and rain kills all the ski hills at the end of February, yet I'm out at the end of March or even mid April wiping snow off my jet ski before I go out. Usually the models have been strengthening in the short term before completely dying in the last 24 hours this year. I'm at least curious to see how they're going to be wrong this time since the pattern is changing with how they are wrong.

CFS Weekly says next two weeks are an absolute torch for most of us. Is that something to take seriously or is it like long range GFS? GFS says torch next two weeks too. Is the rest of winter cancelled?

GFS has a little below normal around the 17 then all of Feb is warm, at least for everything east of Iowa. It is not ending cold at all, which it usually does. Winter is done here, no chance of snowmobile trails being open for more than a few days after a late storm and the ski hills are going to be a constant battle between freeze/thaw every day and rain. Pretty sad to be honest, easily the worst winter I've had since that dreaded one around 10 years ago. I already ordered the parts to fix my jet ski and I'll probably be working on it Wednesday here since it's going to be close to 50. I'm ready for the lake to thaw and to get on with my summer life.

It's already over iceresistance. Next exciting winter storm we have to look forward to is rain from Oklahoma to Michigan! Get ready!

I'm so done with this season. I'm ready to put my snowboards in the attic and call it quits for 8 months. I volunteer for ski patrol and go through hundreds of hours of training just so i can have it rain before I spend eight and a half hours with garbage snow reading a stupid ebook because there's nothing else to do. I was gonna buy myself a few days at Granite Peak or a new snowboard or something to celebrate finally graduating from being a candidate but I'm so tired of this winter I just spent all that budget on jet ski stuff for the spring. And now after a bunch of rain we're getting the useless wrap around pity snow of an inch or less just to taunt me. Selling my snowmobile, I just want to pass this final stupid toboggan test so I can have winter **** off.

Didn't bother with the 3 hour round trip drive to Cascade, hope I don't regret it. This morning HRRR said hardly any snow there and the most aggressive model had 6in. Accuweather says they already had 3 inches up there but I'm just not seeing it. Plenty of rain down here though. Hurray for snowboarding on ice.

And there it is, weather advisory changed from 5-8 to 3-6. Somehow this snow is looking to thread a needle between where I live in SE Wisconsin getting rain and Cascade Mountain. God this winter has been so freaking bad for snowboarding let alone any other outdoor activities.

It's been doing this all winter and every time it's a giant DUD. Weather Underground back tracking on snow totals yet again in the final few hours, for Portage. My guess for Portage is warning for 5-8 inches and they'll get 3 inches of wet snow.

Please be another "Cascade Mountain" special. Winter Storm Watch just keeps going up in totals, now 5-8 there and a bunch of these short terms models have Portage, WI in the crosshairs (if I can read a map, haha).

Accuweather and Wunderground are clinging to Euro hard, GFS says it'll be similar to NAM too with less rain. Guess this one will be a test of the Euro vs everyone else, but history favor the Euro this "winter."

Yeah, this is coping time if it's warm now. Never get anything that lasts this late in the season, maybe a few snows that look pretty for a day or two then melt away. Weather doesn't mean much when the sun angle reaches where it does. I just hope this goes south, the last thing I want right now is rain. Only point to watch storms for me this late in the season is to make sure rain misses me so my snowboard season can keep going.

In SE Wisconsin we're heading towards the time of year where even if we get a lot of snow, the sun is stronger and it melts pretty quickly. Next 10 days being so warm ensures that if we get a "backloaded winter" in the last few weeks of February and maybe into early March that it's the type of snow that only really stays around for a few days, making it useless for snowmobiling and the freeze thaw of the sun makes snowboarding and skiing bad because the man made snow is freeze-thawing every day, giving it that famous "man made snow is icy" feel. The lake isn't even frozen enough to snowmobile on, at this point I'm ready to siphon the gas out of my snowmobile and get it ready for jet ski.

This winter pattern has been a lot of SE Wisconsin getting rain so I have to go to Portage and Cascade to snowboard. I wouldn't be surprised if that was pretty close, that's how it's been playing out.

Alright, definitely have more on my deck than the surrounding areas go. Must have been due to the wind. Regardless it was some great snow we really needed. Hopefully it can get the lake to freeze enough to snowmobile on. It's almost the end of January and there's still open water on the lake. The snow is probably going to blanket it through this cold snap, though.

I must be in the bull's eye because I have over 8 inches of snow on my deck. It's been so long, we haven't really had a good snow this year and last year everything either went south to Chicago or north of me. It's really nice powdery stuff. I didn't go to the hill because it's usually crazy on a weekend but I really should have gone. I'm so used to them being completely wrong about the snow I figured they were calling for 4 inches and it'd be more like 2-4. Powdery stuff is going to stay around for the whole week, I'm really grateful to finally get some snow like this. Last year all I did with my snowmobile was drive it around the lake a few times just to burn off the gas so it didn't go bad over summer.

I've been waiting a month for this but it's finally time for our two weeks of winter, I'm stoked!

Our 1-3 inches of snow in SE Wisconsin ended up being pure rain.

Been slowly watching the wunderground forecast drop from 8 inches to 4.3. This winter is so bad, holy cow.

This is gonna be another huge disappointment, isn't it? 6 inches of snow will be great for snowboarding, but 3-4 isn't going to be good because of the earlier rain, it'll just be some wet snow on top of ice.

Sounds like a broken watermain.

Please sirs some scraps for Columbia county, Wisconsin so I can snowboard on something besides ice this season.

What's UKIE saying for Thursday in West/Central Wisconsin? Trying to decide if a trip to Portage, WI is worth it or not for snowboarding.

It's a fact there's not enough cobalt and lithium for the green future people are anticipating. Solar and wind are still unreliable. It's just going to end up with people burning coal and telling the climate change people to go away, because they'll have the choice of having no electricity and heat or burning coal. The filthy oil refineries and oil fields are just going to be replaced with lithium mines. The one thing I can't stands though are people who try and get the last word in while simultaneously telling everyone to drop the subject. Like that's just not very mature, you tell someone they're completely wrong then tell them to shut up and leave the thread. Really mature, my man. Sorry mods for making you do extra work but I just can't stand people who argue like that.

Woo two weeks of Winter in February! I can't wait! HURRAY!
