Good morning. Here in NW Grand Rapids I have clear skies and a early morning temperature of 54. Today looks to be sunny with highs around 80 tonight the low should be around 60. There is a good chance of showers on Wednesday there are still some questions on any severe storms. The rest of the next seven days should see typical late summer weather. Detailed Forecast for Grand Rapids Today Patchy fog before 9am. Otherwise, mostly sunny, with a high near 80. Light and variable wind. Tonight Partly cloudy, with a low around 60. Light and variable wind. Wednesday A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 80. South wind 7 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms. The official H/L yesterday at Grand Rapids was 76/53 there was 1 HDD there was no rainfall the highest wind gust was 24 MPH out of the NW. There were no significant weather events. For today the average H/L is 80/60 the record high of 94 was in 1948 and 1952 the coolest high of 60 was in 1940 the record low of 41 was in 1942 the warmest low of 72 was in 2020 and 1948 the most rainfall of 2.02” was in 1940. Last year the H/L was 70/51. Some weather history for August 25th 1987, Morning thunderstorms produced heavy rain in eastern Nebraska and southwestern Iowa. Stanton IA reported 10.50 inches of rain. Water was reported up to the handle of automobiles west of Greenwood NE. Rainfall totals for a two day period ranged from 7 to 14 inches across southwestern Iowa. Crop damage was in the millions for both states. Subsequent flooding of streams in Iowa the last week of August caused millions of dollars damage to crops, as some streams crested ten feet above flood stage. At Muskegon the high was only 56 degrees and Lansing was 57, both records for the coldest maximum temperatures for the month of August. The high of 60 degrees at Grand Rapids is only one degree higher than the record of 59 degrees set on August 26, 1987. -

Bit of a flatter ridge builds on the 00z Euro, but still trending much warmer again for Labor Day weekend and beyond. Rain opportunities looking very scarce down here with this blink and you miss it trough deal. -
