Good morning. Here in NW Grand Rapids I have a 6:15 AM temperature of 54 with clear skies. Today should be mostly sunny with a high around 80 and tonight it will be partly cloudy with a low around 60. The weekend with see increasing clouds and a very slight chance of a shower with highs on Saturday in the low 80’s and mid 80’s on Sunday. Lows with near 70 both nights. Monday through Thursday look to be warm with highs in the mid to upper 80’s and lows in the mid 60’s to low 70’s there is also a chance of a few showers. The most rainfall of 3.18” was in 2018. Last year the H/L was 77/52. Some weather history for August 28th 1971, Heavy rains from Tropical Storm Doria caused devastating floods in central and northeast New Jersey resulting in 138 million dollars damage. In southeastern Pennsylvania, high winds downed trees and power lines, and in New York City, heavy rains flooded streets and subways. (David Ludlum) 1990, Between 3:15 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. a devastating F5 tornado ripped a 16.4 mile-long path through portions of Kendall and Will counties in northern Illinois. A total of 29 people were killed, and 350 more were injured. An estimated $160 million in damages occurred. The tornado's path width ranged from 200 yards to half a mile. A total of 470 homes were destroyed, and another 1000 homes were damaged. Sixty-five thousand customers lost power. Here in Michigan 1986, There is an autumnal chill as morning lows fall to a record low of 41 at Grand Rapids and to 36 degrees at Lansing, tying the record low set only four years before. -
