August 2026 PNW Weather
Sounds like it would work for you. I’ve been having to go to Redmond once a week for the past couple of months. It’s about an hour there and 90 minutes to two hours home depending on time of day. We looked seriously at Gig Harbor before we bought in Tacoma and I have been glad we chose Tacoma on those long slow commutes home. -

August 2026 Observations and Discussions
Interesting - maybe I should have put this in the El Nino page? https://www.facebook.com/photo?fbid=1605421977607800&set=a.226681998815145 from AI - You said: did it snow on mauna kea from hurricane Lala did it snow on mauna kea from hurricane Lala Yes, Hurricane Lala brought rare summer snow to the nearly 14,000-foot summit of Mauna Kea in Hawaii, alongside wind gusts reaching 140 mph and wind chills dropping into the teens. Storm Impacts on Mauna Kea Snowfall: The hurricane provided massive tropical moisture, which turned into snow due to freezing temperatures at the high elevation. Winds: The summit experienced fierce blizzard conditions with wind gusts up to 140 mph. Context: Read more about the storm's impact on the Fox Weather Live Updates or check out an analysis on Forbes. [1, 2, 3] Facebook·FOX Weather TROPICAL SNOW : Rain, wind and snow? Tropical Storm ... SNOW on top of Maunakea in Hawaii with Hurricane Lala! ... Hurricane #Lala is currently producing SNOW on the summit of Mauna Kea ... 0:09 is this the first time A tropical system has brought snow to Hawaii in Aug Yes, this is an exceptionally rare historical event, as a tropical system delivering snow to Hawaii in August is virtually unheard of. [1, 2] While the nearly 14,000-foot summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa regularly see snow during non-tropical winter storms (such as "Kona Lows"), the phenomenon happening during a tropical cyclone in the peak of summer is unprecedented in modern records. [1, 2, 3, 4] Why This Event is Unique Unusual Timing: Snow on the summits usually happens during winter. August is the warmest time of the year for the islands, making snow extremely out of season. [1, 2, 3, 4] The Perfect Formula: As reported by Fox Weather, Hurricane Lala pumped an immense amount of deep tropical moisture directly upward into freezing, high-altitude temperatures, creating heavy, wind-driven snow rather than rain. [, 2] Historic Precedent: According to meteorological analysis published by Forbes, the overall behavior of the storm was highly unusual, with Lala's eyewall directly impacting the Big Island in a way not seen since 1871.
