  1. The fire near Wenatchee that started on Sunday has done a lot of damage already http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/hundreds-of-homes-evacuated-in-fast-moving-wenatchee-fire/
  2. 1991 was a pretty cool, wet spring in the NW. Not much of an analog if you're just looking at the weather.
  3. Looks like 1957 was the last time that that happened.
  4. I agree with your point, but LA's warmest year on record was actually 1981 (which means their climate is now cooling!!1) And sadly that type of article is just the norm now for climate science journalism. It certainly has an impact on the issue since most everyday folks aren't science savvy enough to deconstruct its gaping holes.
  5. There were massive La Ninas in 1889-90 and 1892-93. We got a lot of snow.
  6. Colder than February is possible if we get another April 2011.
  7. Tripling the previous all time record high snowpack would be pretty interesting.
  8. Eh, that was more of a northerly flow pattern though. Hence the gigantic snowstorm here that week. Lots of arctic air stuffed just north of the border and not a ton of westerly influence.
  9. It will be cooler, more pervasive, and longer lasting than the brief 1-2 days of troughing we just had. The last time we had such a prolonged stretch of cool onshore flow was probably April 2013 or even December 2012. Given the current state of things, it's relatively noteworthy.
  10. Five straight days of subfreezing 850mb temps with snows in the mountains and cold core valley showers is a huge departure from what we've been seeing. We were due. Accept it and enjoy it. There'll be some sunbreaks as well.
  11. April 1-5 Should be solidly below normal around the region, as evidenced by the uniform subfreezing 850mb temps and thicknesses in the 520's.
  12. The only thing we're due for at this point is cold onshore flow. After 24+ months without it, that's what we will be getting.
  13. It's kind of felt like spring for most of the past six months honestly. Lots of 50s and 60s, not much else.
  14. It's called seasons. I also hope it rains all April in North Bend and snows at Andrew's house.
  15. Also worth noting that February had a 46.98 average at BLI, and through today March has a 47.10 average. Virtually no change there, so it kind of just feels like a continuation of the weather we've been having.
  16. It hasn't felt like a super warm month, actually. Has felt pretty average for March, on the mild side maybe but not outlandish.
  17. I already have a tornado chasing trip planned in the San Juans in late June. Wish me luck!
