I worked in the sewer department to pay for my BA and master’s degree before transitioning to a white-collar career. While white-collar jobs might require you to work 60–80 hours a week, as Fred mentioned, blue-collar jobs are unquestionably harder. I’d much rather work with my mind than do physical labor. The toll on your body from lifting a couple of hundred-pound pipes all day in the sun, compared to sitting in air conditioning, is no comparison, like man

Fair enough. My point is, this conversation is pointless. Yes, I undoubtedly think blue collar jobs are harder than white collar jobs, but I am happy with the work I got into and I think it suited me a lot better than sitting in an office all day. Everyone's different, these comparisons are stupid. Most (key word, MOST) of us here are privileged to be able to have these jobs, and to be quite frank I think it is stupid to complain about sitting in a safe and well temperatured office all day that pays for your life, that is the job you chose and were lucky enough to have, be thankful for it or find a new job. Sorry for getting into this, I did not want it to turn into a debate.
