@Niko, looks like the GFS might have scored a coupe for the weekend East Coast storm...latest 06z HRRR hits NYC to BOS pretty good. I remember seeing the Euro consistently OTS while the GFS maintained a closer coastal storm.
To the Bolded, this is reminiscent to what this season has already produced over the West and CO. I remember seeing some wind reports in excess of 100mph during the month of DEC.
Here in my yard, I now recorded 4” of new snowfall yesterday and overnight and now have around 4” of snow on the ground. At 6:40 AM there is light snow falling and a temperature of 24. The temperature was near 33 34 most of yesterday and a good part of the overnight.
KEY MESSAGES
SNOW SHOWERS ESPECIALLY NEAR/NORTH OF MUSKEGON THROUGH TONIGHT
IMPACTFUL PERIOD OF SNOW AND WIND SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH MONDAY
SUBZERO WIND CHILLS MONDAY/TUESDAY, THEN MORE SNOW COMING
MIDWEEK
AN ARCTIC FRONT WILL BE ARRIVING SUNDAY NIGHT INTO MONDAY BRINGING
IMPACTFUL LAKE-ENHANCED SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW ESPECIALLY FOR AREAS
NEAR AND WEST OF US 131. 1000-700MB TRAJECTORIES INDICATE SW FLOW
LAKE ENHANCEMENT 21Z SUNDAY THROUGH 03Z MONDAY THEN A SHIFT TOWARD W
TO NW AFTER THAT. NAM12 IS INDICATING SIGNIFICANT LIFT WITHIN THE
DGZ AS THE ARCTIC FRONT APPROACHES AND AFTER IT MOVES THROUGH, WITH
10-20 UBAR/S SHOWN NEAR/WEST OF US 131. BUFKIT SOUNDINGS USING NAM12
AT HOLLAND INDICATE VERY DEEP MOISTURE UP TO 20K FT SUNDAY EVENING
INTO MONDAY MORNING WITH SIGNIFICANT LIFT LOCATED EXACTLY IN THE
CENTER OF THE DGZ. THE HEAVIEST SNOWFALL RATES LOOK TO OCCUR DURING
THIS TIME FRAME. ADDITIONALLY, WIND GUSTS INCREASE TO THE 25-35

Some weather history for January 17th 1982 Strong chinook winds caused severe wind damage in Boulder, CO. Wind gusts to 118 mph was recorded on the roof of the Environmental Research Laboratories (ERL), and a wind gust to 137 mph was measured atop the roof of the NCAR building (in the southwest part of the city, 600 feet above ground level). The high winds uprooted trees and damage roofs. (Storm Data) and in 2010 A series of strong Pacific storms impacted Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico, Nevada and Utah from January 17th through 23rd, leaving behind several feet of snow across the higher terrain and breaking numerous lowest barometric pressure records across the region. Sunrise Mountain, Arizona received 77 inches of snow, while Mammoth Lakes, California received 90 inches. (NCDC)
Well, I don’t live near a lake, but tonight’s snowfall was lake-effect like. I had 1.5 inches at my house on the NE side of KC, but 5 miles outside of my hood, basically nothing. 3 very heavy snow bursts that lasted about 10-15 minutes each. I was the jack zone! Beautiful winter scene outside, only for my neighborhood! Crazy!
