The overnight low here in MBY was 32 the 7AM temperature is 34 with partly cloudy skies. There was 0.03” of rain mixed with snow overnight. There is a chance of rain/snow showers today it will be cold today and tomorrow. Opening day for the Whitecaps looks clear but cold with highs only in the low 40’s with it being a night game the temperatures are likely drop into the 30’s for the game. It looks to warm up later in the week with highs in the upper 50’s to around 60. Lows should stay in the 40’s for the most part after cold lows in the 20’s tonight and tomorrow night.

The official H/L yesterday at Grand Rapids was 43/34 there was a trace of snowfall the highest wind gust was 36 MPH out of the W. For today the average H/L is 54/34 the record high of 81 was in 1921 and 1991 the coldest high of 28 was in 1982 and 1979 the record low of 18 was in 1943 and 2003 the warmest low of 63 was in 1929. The most rainfall of 1.87” was in 2010 the most snowfall of 3.5” was in 1914 the most snow on the ground was 7” in 1982.
Some weather history for April 6th 1936 A tornado outbreak in the Deep South resulted in a total of 446 deaths and eighteen million dollars damage. It was a "Tale of Two Cities". During the evening of the 5th a tornado hit Tupelo MS killing 216 persons, injuring 700 others, and causing three million dollars damage. The next morning the paths of two tornadoes met about 8:30 AM and cut a swath four blocks wide through Gainesville GA killing 203 persons, injuring 934, and causing thirteen million dollars damage. Eight to ten feet of debris filled the streets following the storm. At least 70 persons died in the Cooper Pants Factory, the greatest tornado toll of record for a single building. Some unseasonably cold temperatures through mid-week including a hard freeze tomorrow night into Wednesday morning. Temperatures will remain in the upper 40's which is a solid 10 degrees below normal for the date. We slowly modify to slightly above normal temperatures with highs in the mid to upper 60's by the weekend. Looking ahead to next week we should see a big warmup well into the 70's before another cool down back to below normal temperatures by late next week. Overall, a dry pattern throughout the period.
