Fire season is off to the races here in BC. I think they’re letting this one burn. There was a grass fire in Grand Forks yesterday, too, that spread from a house fire.
As the media hype machine does its thing, historical context is important. My first front-row viewing of a forest fire was this, from May 7, 1992 when I was 13. (Picture taken by someone else). We got up close to it before they shut the highway down. It was the central Okanagan’s first interface fire when the north flank of Mt Boucherie was torched by kids playing with matches on a dry, warm, windy evening after a dull, dry winter and very warm, dry start to spring.
@Black Hole and @OKwx2k4 how did you guys fair? That squall line looked nasty as it blew through both of your areas. It appears you got your fair share of some severe wx.
