Currently running +1.9 at ORD this month. Will whittle that down in the coming days but not sure it will get all the way to 0.
You can see some Nino influences on the pattern, but some non-Nino looks as well. Could get a "non-Nino" period in July where it gets warmer but this just doesn't look like a summer that will want to put out huge heat. Not surprising I guess.
At least its not June 2023.... Despite the stubborn june gloom its still reaching 70F here once the sun pops out. June 2015 had some remnents of tropical cyclones in the beginning of the month and some mugginess. June 2023 was cool, wet and gloomy. I hope later summer its 2015 redux at least.
Age of the house matters too. I spent most of my childhood in Baltimore, in a four square home built in 1920, and we didn't have central air. Freaking brutal.
Also, related to housing age, I'm pretty sure that's why the map shows places like Gallatin County and Flathead County as having higher AC adoption than the less trendy/slower growth Montana counties.
