The NFL becomes less compelling every season.
With the advent of NIL and what it has also done to college football, it really feels like we have already hit "peak football." I would say we are definitely suffering from a sports malaise in this country.
Baseball is probably the most ascendent sport right now, but then we have the looming lockout which could really set them back if they play it wrong. You would like to think they learned the lessons of 1994, but that was 32 years ago now. Most players weren't even born then.
We also have to realize that professional sports, which big time college football and basketball are now as well, do not care about the fans or fan experience. Obviously money was always the objective, but like everything else in our hyper-consumer culture, the focus is more and more on how these entities can exploit and transfer resources (money) from the fans to the billionaire owners and millionaire players.
