One of the reasons why we loved our house when we closed on it a year ago. No rear neighbors and the massive field in the back put on all sort of displays, including fog rolling in at sunset. It is displaying a thick fog this morning on the first day of fall. Right on queue.

Not sure. We've had a lot of warmth this month up until now, so I kind of think it may be a wash and we'll see fall colors progress roughly on pace with historical long term averages, which may seem early since the colors have often been delayed to some extent in recent years. An excessively warm October could throw a wrench in that of course for the areas that have later peaks. Some indications that October could tilt warmer than average but by how much is the question. Perhaps not enough to be a factor. btw, yesterday was the first sub-70 degree high for Chicago since June 26.

We had thick fog here when I woke up at 6 but it vanished quickly and now sunny.
