July 2026 PNW Weather
We'll just go full penetration in mid to late August with significant east wind and a fire then starts in Walterville and hops the river. Days of east winds, then stagnation and still air...then it'll happen again on labor day weekend, as in a labor to breathe... And this ballgame is...ovah. And that's just the McKenzie River. The Santiam and Clackamas river are also fuckked. Good luck fire crews that are already spread thin. Gonna be wild to experience spot fires starting as the city is of course evacuated in what will certainly be an orderly fashion. The tinderbox that is still left over from the great Jan 2024 ice storm is going to make it worse.
