There do exist some ridgier members still with a better blocking location into the New Year.
Not sure what's the less likely outcome right now, that tiny cluster of members including the OP verifying, or this pattern continuing for a month straight? I honestly have no idea
It’s not exactly a mountain snowmaggedon type pattern but something is better than nothing. Maybe 10-20” over the Oregon Cascades in the next 10 days. And ~30” around Snoqualmie Pass. Probably a fairly close to seasonal type of mountain snow pattern given the late December time frame.
Euro is an outlier to its ensemble and I don't see any trend toward a growing cluster of AK ridging members. Using 850mb temps in Unalaska and Nome as a proxy for ridging there. In fact the 00z was a huge step toward perpetuating the low amplitude -PNA into early January.
Again, not a bad pattern, with potential for interesting weather besides invasions of arctic air. Someone might need to do a welfare check on a certain North Bend resident though. Where's the next vacay @TT-SEA?
