Only made it down to 34 here last night. Most likely because it was cloudy here from the convergence zone.

Low of 32 here and up to 51 currently. 5th freeze of the month here which matches the amount we had in February. 18 freezes here this cold season. Not sure what the actual average is out here IMBY as this is only my second full winter here but definitely well below normal considering I averaged about 25 at my old location in North Tacoma which was a much worse spot.

Pretty classic EML sounding (elevated mixed layer) from 18z at Davenport, IA, setting the stage for the severe wx threat farther east later today. I circled the area of interest on the sounding. The area where that red line points sharply toward the right is your capping inversion, which will act to suppress surface-based storms until it weakens/disappears. Above that, where the red line bends back toward the left, is the layer of steep lapse rates in the mid levels (in this case in excess of 8C).
