I just read the pilot reported the plane was struck by lightning, I'm guessing it must have fried the control box for the engine. Looking at the flight path, Sucia must have been the best option in the circumstances. I was out driving when this would have happened, and the sky was pretty dark and ominous in that direction, that pilot did a hell of a good job to get the plane turned around and put it on the water as close to shore and other boats as he did.
2 passengers went to the hospital in Bellingham, 2 went to Harborview, and the rest caught a boat ride to the Bellingham Coast Guard station.
