Yeah... that was odd but in October offshore flow becomes more dominant as the interior cools down so if there is smoke in October its probably heading west more often than in the summer.
I went out to Yellowstone in October 2022…was pretty sunny and beautiful there. Was smoky before I left to go over there and nasty smoke persisted for another week or two once I was home. Sometimes we do get fairly persistent weak offshore flow and long bouts of smoke too.
Western WA really doesn’t deal with that much smoke, 2020 of course was a big smoke event, but otherwise it’s generally small bouts of smoky days. Southern OR and east of the crest have had several years recently with 20-30 smoky days from late July through mid September.
