Knew this s**t would happen when the IPWP/BSO intradecadal vacillation flipped modes. The central/eastern CONUS is going to catch up to the west in the summer warming department over the next 10 years. The west will catch up to the central/eastern CONUS in the winter warming department.
Only real heatwave I was in the PNW for was late July/August 2018 just as it was getting hot/smoky and it was comfortable after sundown, but obv not during the day.
The major difference is how it feels near/after sunset more than anything. It gets worse here as the sun goes down and moisture pools with the loss of diurnal mixing. In the PNW it felt great at night.
Blessed? Trollolololol. Today was my 5th straight day over 100°F and I’ve been screwed by convection/rainfall worse than any summer in my lifetime (only one legit storm all summer so far). I’m in a bubble of desert here.
F**k this bulls**t f**k summer f**k ridges f**k sun. I’d rather half the lower-48 be buried under miles of ice.
