Yes, I totally agree with you in regards to "see it to believe it"...I've watching models for a good number of years to get a pretty good "feel" of what they are trying to say. Your right, the seasonal shift in jet stream and strength play a different role in the winter months. It's just a thought but what if we can seriously see a scenario whereby the cold out duels the warmth??? Surely, the northern tier of the US may end up AN, but their norms in the depths of winter are still quite cold and will have no problem keeping Snow OTG. Either they are TOTALLY wrong with the high lat blocking, then this will become a massive TORCH winter for the CONUS. The saving grace for winter fans HAS to be the -NAO/-AO and the Alaskan Ridge...a combination of these really will help keep cold around for storms to tap.
