  2. It'll drive you to drinking if you let it. The argument could be made we're still paying for January/early February 1950.

  4. Here's some data from my question a couple of days ago about warmest winter on record. I chose Bellingham, Seattle, and Olympia to see what February would have to average to get to the warmest December through February average temperature. While I tried to find the warmest winter, feel free to correct my data if I missed one or made incorrect calculations. Olympia Feb. Avg Temp as of Today: 48.1 Warmest Winters (What February has to Avg) 1. 1957-58: 44.0 (48.0) 2. 1980-81: 43.1 (45.2) Seattle Feb. Avg Temp as of Today: 49.9 Warmest Winters (What February has to Avg) 1. 1991-92: 45.0 (44.5) 2. 1957-58: 44.9 (44.4) 3. 1994-95: 44.7 (43.7) Bellingham Feb. Avg Temp as of Today: 49.7 Warmest Winters (What February has to Avg) 1. 1991-92: 43.7 (46.3) 2. 1957-58: 43.4 (45.4) Olympia may struggle to get warmest Dec-Feb on record, but the other two stations have a very realistic shot.

  7. Stevenson is fairly "off the grid" as well. But Matthew means electricity and running water. Anyone who has hope for a greener future for humanity but reaps the benefits of modern conveniences is clearly a massive hypocrite.

  10. Too early to tell. I wouldn't dare wax prognostic about it now knowing how sensitive a subject September is with you.

  12. I too think an above average summer feels likely. Might be some painful posts from you this spring though.

  13. Definitely still to come. Brace yourself.

  14. I agree. We have gone beyond just making up for a little cold rain in spring. If there truly is such a thing as patterns balancing out we should have 50-75 inches of snow for the next three straight seasons with persistent cold. Of course that won't happen though.

  15. Even better is the fact the westside is nicely overdue for a major heatwave.

  17. Both of them. February was supposed to be a winter revival according to Flatiron and Kitzhaber took my parking spot one time at Zupan's.

  23. Saw a rather large group of robins this morning. I know they're supposed to be the first "sign" of spring coming around the corner. It wasn't even that warm here this morning(low 20s) when I saw them, so was pretty surprised. Ready to be done with this craptastc winter. I am getting the spring, severe weather, storm chasing itch!!

  24. That step takes a lot of work. I don't like work. I don't like work even more than I don't like moss.

  25. 20 years ago today I woke up with a bit of a hangover and it was snowing pretty hard outside.

  26. You must have a minor moss problem if your lawn get's greener right away. I use Scotts as well but my lawn turns black from all the dead moss until new grass takes over. It's actually very ugly for a couple weeks at least.

  27. Ridiculous stat of the night: Since November 21st (83 days and basically the entire heart of Winter) BFI in Seattle has had an astounding 38 highs of 55 degrees or above. For comparison, here's how many 55+ days there were in that same November 21st-February 11th stretch in recent Winters. Absolutely blows them all out of the water! 04-05: 14 05-06: 6 06-07: 3 07-08: 2 08-09: 4 09-10: 16 10-11: 8 11-12: 6 (zero between November 28th and February 3rd) 12-13: 5 13-14: 5 (zero between December 1st and January 31st.) 14-15: 38
