The right kind of death is important to every living creature. I'm sure you'd agree that getting quickly toppled/crushed is better than being slowly burned to death. So please extend our beautiful conifers that same courtesy.
Another windstorm will come along eventually in our super-charged warming climate and cause more destruction than the Columbus Day storm... and you will love every minute of it. Tree deaths aren't a problem as long as they die in weather you enjoy!
