We are now at 15.2 inches on YTD precip which is +5.06 inches above normal or +150%. Much better than last year's paltry 6.64 inches by this same time. Storms have not been successful so far but the rains have been very beneficial. Everything is very lush and green.
That being said, looking forward to the upcoming dry spell. Besides some possible light showers around on Friday night, the rest of my NWS zone forecast is mostly sunny and highs in the 70s through next Wednesday.
Snodgrass is hinting that the back half of June may end up stormy for the north central US depending on how the pattern shakes out after the upcoming +PNA. Might be a case of good things come to those who wait.
It's a ways out there for sure, but three of the past five runs of the ECMWF AI model have brought in a piece of energy into the Gulf in a couple weeks. Something that bears watching at least.
